Pirate -

Trombone Shorty might be dangerous, especially during a drought.  By FAR the most exciting artist I've seen in the last 5 years.

GREAT!  Would LOVE to hear Trombone Shorty at T ride

- Planet Bluegrass should "settle this issue" and get Hot Tuna for TBF 2014
- I also reiterate Telluride Tom's nomination to get Asleep At The Wheel

These two "new" acts at TBF 2014 would complement any two "NEW" acts.

These two would be awesome!  Hot Tuna and Asleep!

Just stumbled onto The Hackensaw Boys !! Are they still together . This would be a fine addition to TBF .

Yes, they are still together. Here is a link to their 2003 TBF performance:

These guys are mandatory for T-ride 14

Katie Glassman and Snapshot - Denver, Colorado

Summertime and Thursday evenings in Fort Collins feature free concerts in Old Town Square from 7pm to 9pm. On June 20 I walked by there about 7:30pm. As I was approaching Old Town Square I heard a lovely female voice singing. Then I heard a sweet swingin' fiddle playing some western swing.

The problem was that Emmylou was scheduled for an 8pm set at TBF, and I was looking forward to streaming some of it on KOTO. I watched and listened to maybe five or six songs by Katie and Snapshot. Then I walked home to catch Emmylou.

What I did see performed by Katie and her band was OUTSTANDING!!! Katie and here band were very professional, excellent western swing playing (and more), great sound by the band, and I totally recommend them! They were very good and very entertaining.

"A mix of highly danceable western swing with a splash of jump blues and more than a sultry moment or two fueled by Glassman's breathy vocals and steamy solos." -- STRINGS MAGAZINE

SNAPSHOT band is:
Eric Moon on piano, oldtime/western accordion and vocal harmonies; Greg Schochet on swing guitar with his rich, vintage tone;  and Charlie Mertens slaps away on the bass and sings vocal harmonies; Katie Glassman plays fiddle and sings.

"Denver native Katie Glassman has moved back home to Denver. She has a sparkling voice, a fast and soulful fiddling style and original songs that freshly interpret genres from vintage jazz to Western swing and bluegrass — all of which converge on her recent release SNAPSHOT, a perfect sonic representation (or snapshot, if you will) of her current work.

Glassman studied jazz and classical violin at the University of Colorado under jazz pianist Chip Stephens and violinist Jennifer John. She played in the top CU jazz combo, was awarded the Outstanding Performer Award at the Abilene Jazz Festival and was first runner-up for the IAJE International Sisters of Jazz Group.  In 2004, she graduated with a degree in music performance and the first certificate in jazz studies awarded to a violinist."

Sam Bush plays mandolin on their CD release in March 2012.

Love to see these guys. If they have played at TBF, I was just unaware.

And I'd give anything to see a Jack White/ Loretta Lynn solo/collaboration on that grand stage. I know, "dream on".
