Pirate -

Trombone Shorty might be dangerous, especially during a drought.  By FAR the most exciting artist I've seen in the last 5 years.

I'm on-board with the Black Lillie's, saw them in Denver in June. I've been wanting The Gourds for years and hope that happens at some point. The David Mayfield Parade would be a fun too.

Now this is a thread subject to spend some time on!
I usually buy music as TBGF announces the line up, but it looks like I have some new music to check out.     Lately I have been listening to Gregory Alan Isakov. Funny enough he was the 07 Telluride Troubador winner.

Just stumbled onto The Hackensaw Boys !! Are they still together . This would be a fine addition to TBF .

Great recommendation for The Black Lillies! They are now making this Monday morning move a little faster--thanks to this great thread.

The Whiskey Gentry, an up-and-coming Atlanta bluegrass band, are one of my favorites. They have played a lot in the southeast festival circuit, and it'd be pretty amazing to see them play somewhere in Telluride. Check them out:

Yes, they are still together. Here is a link to their 2003 TBF performance:

- Planet Bluegrass should "settle this issue" and get Hot Tuna for TBF 2014
- I also reiterate Telluride Tom's nomination to get Asleep At The Wheel

These two "new" acts at TBF 2014 would complement any two "NEW" acts.

Truly incendiary no doubt about that, but I wouldn't be surprised if he could blow the fire out with his horn. I bet he can play Orange Blossom Special too.  Pirate

How about a new old guy like Mark Knopfler?  I have been attending TBF since 2003 and he has never been on stage.  I do not know if he has before then.

I strongly 2nd that emotion, especially if he brings along the band he had playing with him, when we saw the two shows at Broomfield, when he was opening for Dylan, last fall.

They had a most definite Celtic vibe going and were actually raging both nights, even though similar sets.

Not sure these guys are quite ready for Main stage action, but they do look like they might fit in festivarian-wise!

Sorry, I know these aren't new acts. I know they've played Telluride before, but I'd love to see Michael Cleveland and Flamekeeper back. I hope the Infamous Stringdusters become a yearly staple.

She's pretty hot on the scene. Man, Mr. Ed, I wanted to really like her set at Strawberry but it just didn't happen for me personally. I like her music but don't know why it didn't translate at the Strawberry festival earlier this year.

Of course, I'm a move your feet type of person and maybe it's not meant for me at a fest. A lot of my friends dig her!

Telluride Bluegrass Fest -- 2011

URL icon « Reply #29 on: July 22, 2013, 10:12:48 PM »

Well, if the archives are reviewed, one will see that this time last year, I'd posted that it'd be awesome to have Steve Martin at the 40th... and ... through a sequence of unpredictable and unforeseen events; it came to pass.  So, I'll throw this out there .. It'd be great to see Bonepony make another appearance at next years TBF (I think they were there a long time ago, so not "New" by definition of the word, but, would be new to me since I've only been going for the last 8 years).

Lets see how the cards play out, Planet Bluegrass.  Regardless, I'm sure the selections will continue to be stellar.
