I love it up there. Small town, great people. My girlfriend's aunt works at KGNU and lives in Gold Hill, so she always keeps us informed on the happenings. The Inn has a really nice grass area with picnic tables and plenty of room to sprawl. Along with a very nice outdoor stage. I saw oakhurst and blue canyon boys up there about a month ago for the Sawtelle mountain jam they do every year. The labor day event is put on by KGNU, and there is always cheap local brews and delicious cookin'. Plus the sound resonates wonderfully, due to the location. Here are the details:

Gold Hill Inn Music eventsIt is well worth the short mountain drive, only about 15 minutes outside of boulder. I have never been let down by any of the performances I have been to up there.
