I'd like to see some indie alternative band like Beck, Modest Mouse, Built To Spill or Ween, though I doubt most of these would be fitting for the TBF crowd.

Realistically I'd love to see Trey Anastasia Band, Government Mule, or String Cheese as a headliner/closer.

The world knows we want to see AK and Union Station but I understand that she is expensive. I would really like to see Carolina and the Chocolate Drops, I love their music and I hope to catch The Oh Hellos again, when I’m in the US, I think they are fantastic. Am really excited to see Billy Strings at Telluride!

Now to get anxious about Nightgrass. It is my biggest anxiety every year. How to make sure I get a ticket for the high school......

I don't think The Carolina Chocolate Drops are still doing anything. Though Rhiannon Giddens (the main force behind that band) is still touring and releasing albums. She even played TBF a few years ago and gave the keynote speech at IBMA this year.

She is superb! I saw her at TBF and we have seen her six times in Australia since then, what a voice and stage presence.

The CCD are not playing together, but individually, they are teaching the world about roots music. I would say The American Songster, Dom Flemons, puts on a great concert, instructive, funny, bawdy, minstrel. He and Rhiannon have spent a lot of time digging into those Carolina hills for gold. Hubby Jenkins is a delight to see and hear.

My other 'must go-to' festival is Merlefest in Wilkesboro, NC in April. Why do I mention this? Rhiannon and Hubby are performing there this year (I can only dream that Dom will be added and they might do a reunion. If Nickel Creek can do it, anybody can,... except The Civil Wars). Merlefest is a very different vibe from Telluride but no less amazing (ask Sam Bush, if you don't believe me). At Merlefest, there are, I think, 15 stages of music, so there is so much music to hear and to learn. If not 2018, then put it on your calendar for 2019, as the Transatlantic Sessions will return for their US tour. They came to the US for the first time in April 2017; they had NC native James Taylor join them to kick it off at Merlefest. So amazing. And it presented the hardest musical choice I've had to make: Do I catch Bela Fleck's set or go to the Transatlantic Sessions workshop? Bela and Chris are the two artists I've seen more than any other geniuses, in all of their guises. I chose wisely and went to the Workshop.

I was trying to get into Sturgill's music and finally found a YouTube video of him and John Prine doing a co-interview and playing a few of John's songs at the Grammy museum. Maybe we can get them together in Telluride?
