My training program is in full swing...
Friday night I was sound engineer for a "battle of the bands" A hundred or so twenty somthings all hyped up on hooch ar someting like that. There was this twentysomething girls on some kind of something that kept rubbing her breasts on my shoulder while I was tweaking the knobs... NOT her knobs you perverts, the sound board - idiots; Look but don't touch. Guess you had to be there.
Then it was off to the Saloon to check out the Miller Carr Band. Great group from Sanat Monica. 70s surf music meets jazz. AND they were selling
vinyl of the newest LP
. Can you say Cazadores?
Up at 6am Saturday morning to load the truck for my opening festival of the year... Cuisine on the green. Mika the wonderdog was an incredible sport, greeting and playing with everyone in sight. Her first Festival, maybe she stayed calm cause of all those sausages that people slipped to her
... Five acts in 5 hours kept my beer reps at a minimum, that coupled with this case of allergies that hit Friday afternoon.
Tune Report:
Folk singer Krickie sounds much more like an angel.
Next up was the PineNeedles - very hot jamgrass, they keep getting better, they might be ready to tour next year!
Pine NeedlesThe
Blue Bellies inroduced a new chick drummer! Right after our good friend
Audrey Auld Mezera Did a little suprise tweener. The music Club from Bolinas wound it all up and brought me in for a gentle landing.
A quick beer for the strike and it was back on the road for the evening shows.... Mika got in the back seat and crashed as soon as we started driving. We unloaded the sound gear and I was off to "work" for an art theatre performance by the
ArtShip Ensemble I was very pleasantly amazed by the theatrical presentation of this group. I only was able to grab a beer during the first act cause the second act had a bunch of really intricate light cues.
The evening wound up at the Saloon again...
The NitCaps played, they are a really fun band that has been easy to deal with for the past year I've been booking music in the bar. Good times, good friends, good tequila (much deserved), and good micro brew.
Mika and I got home and crashed. She's gonna be a great festival dog!
I get to do the whole thing again in three weeks with our big Western Weekend Days... Mean while I'm stoked for Ramblin Jack next Saturday!
I'd go on and on but the Giants are playing the Rockies and I'm due for a special Yummyrita.
Happy Sunday y'all
