Johnnyswim is the best addition in the final announcement.  Donna Summers' daughter is SMOKIN HOT(she''l be the best looking person at the festival), and her voice sounds like honey from the lips of an angel.  Good get PB!

Great lineup. With Rhonda Vincent we just about will have seen all the Grammy nominees from 2014.
Thanks PB

House Band on Thursday, huh? The only other time I can recall that happening was in 2011 when Robert Plant closed out the festival. I imagine this has more to do with Jerry's tour schedule with Allison than anything else, and I'm really excited that we're going to get The House Band at all, but I always love having them close out the festival. I don't think there's a better act for that slot.

I'm still excited we get them at all. With all of their schedules and projects to work out year after year, I have no idea how you manage to get them every year.

Yes but seriously, couldn't Alison just kind of you know, drop by??

I decided to look through old programs cause you all got me curious about the House Band history. I didn't remember that they went back that far. Indeed, in 2000, what is now the House Band (except no Edgar) performed on Thursday at 6:15 under the name The Bluegrass Sessions. Then nothing until 2006 when the House Band played Thursday at 7:00, but not under the name House Band; just the names listed. 2007 was the first time I could find them being called the House Band, and they played Thursday at 5:15 that year. Then the tradition began in 2008, with the House Band closing the fest on Sundays, with the only exception being 2011 when they played Thursday and Robert Plant closed Sunday.
I love it when they close the fest--or when Sam does (my first fest in '92 closed with Sam and John Cowan on Sunday night). This year it does seem to likely be more due to Jerry's schedule. Alison has shows the 17th in Montana--and then I guess Jerry does a quick side trip to Telluride for his show and the House Band both on Thursday the 18th--then the 19th in Idaho and the 20th in Salt Lake. Maybe Jerry will miss one or more of those, though I'm guessing we'll just have him for the one day at the fest. I know he'd love to be there all four days as much as we'd love to have him, and sometimes things don't work out. I'm just thankful we have him for a couple sets on Thursday!
Just over three months to go! I'm ready to get back to the high country!

2008 was my first year. I always forget that that was when the tradition started. It just seemed like such a natural thing to me.

Maybe Alison will support Jerry and his band like she did at Hardly Strictly in SF. That would be nice...

One of the reasons I like The House Band on Sunday is that I never have any interest in the Punch Brothers nightgrass. Friday night I'll definitely be at a nightgrass show. I'll check out Janelle Monae, but I've had my fill of Trampled for a while. Friday night is usually Yonder's SOH show. Maybe I'll try for that . . .

I want to thank you for doing this research on the House Band. For all those folks carrying on behind the scenes about "the Sunday closer tradition" here is your answer.

Now, get over it already, and please, stop sending me messages. Evil

Next time you want to shake it up and add to the vibe, check out Nahko and Medicine for the People. At Sheridan on St Patty's Day.

Thanks for the rec!  Nahko and Medicine for the People is playing here in Steamboat on Saturday at the ski resort. I'll definitely head into town to check them out.

I love the final line-up.  Good Lord, Jonelle Monae is fabulous.  Now I just need to find a ticket (and be able to afford it).  Can't miss this year!
