Hey, I'm new! So, take it easy on the noob  Wave

Is there a 101 version of how to do this festival up right?
Prefer accommodation within walking distance to the shows. Hotel in town?
Planning on the whole fest..and a day b4 and a day after to settle in/out.
Coming from Canada, eh

Thanks!

p.s. Greensky Bluegrass's awesomeness lead me to thinking I need more of that.

Hey 5T, you've come to the right place. Keep lurking here. Read old forum entries about getting tickets, what to bring, etc.--this board is a wealth of TBF knowledge.
If you enjoy camping, I'd recommend taking a lottery chance at TownPark/Warner Field tickets this fall. Personally, I don't think any other lodging can compare to actually "living in the venue" for a week. Regardless of how you do it, you will arrive a newbie and leave as family. It is unlike ANY other fest in the world.  Cheers

Hi there, we are coming to the festival for the first time in 2915 too ( from Australia) and I can second the motion that this site is great! Super friendly and helpful people, I already feel like part of the family.
We also decided not to camp ( too hard bringing all the gear from Oz:( ) but we found a place to stay close to festival using air bnb. I recommend it, prices are a bit more reasonable. Good luck and see you in a telluride! Lesley x

If the first 41 are any indication, I bet it has 900 more in it. Do you think Sam Bush will play?  Cheers

So, there's some hotels, but many condos, small houses or rooms available.  Is it just you, a couple, or small/large group? Your answer factors into the recommendations, no one definitive right answer...Telluride isn't like many other places on Earth, maybe some in Canada tho, ya' know.

Oh, and one day B4 is not E-nuf, trust me on this.

so a couple of questions...i'm sure it will be easier asking ya'll

is it 1 festival ticket needed for all shows? or are there a bunch of side shows that are ticketed as well. i don't need to see/go to any workshops as i'm not a musician, just a "music lover", as cesar rosas would say!

what are the chances i can get a ticket when they go on sale? as i don't want to book a place to stay now and lay down a deposit unless i can for sure get a ticket. i did read that it sold out last year

lastly i plan on driving to telluride(from denver airport) and parking the car in town for 3 days=not driving anywhere. so, am i A OK with a room on main street in telluride. ie) will it be walking distance to all i need?

thanks!!

Welcome five!  Wave

Take a look at 2014 ticket page.  It'll give you an idea of what you'll want next summer.  http://www.bluegrass.com/telluride/tickets.html  You'll need a 4-day pass for the festival, or single day tickets to each day.  There are shows starting Wednesday night at different venues around town, Nightgrass, that will require a separate ticket.  They also have a different on-sale date much closer to the event.  Get on the Planet's mailing list to stay up to date on that stuff.  Free shows/workshops/etc at Elks Park in town, too, during the fest.

Parking in town is free once you arrive.  You will either park in town at car henge or up on the ski hill.  Either way, you will not need a car your whole stay.  All is walking distance, and there are shuttles if you need, too (also free).  Poke around on the Telluride section of the forum.  You'll find out more than you ever could think to ask.
