An hour and 15 min of "old school" SCI and NO Nightgrass doesn't save this festival for me.  What an "epic" disappointment of a line-up.

Dispatch gets the Friday headlining slot instead of SCI?

The way I see it, Dispatch gets the "closer" slot.  I believe that in the festival context, the "headliner" slot is next-to-last, like 8pm.  The final act around 10pm is the "closer.".  The "closer" gets to play to a bunch of cold people packing up and leaving the park while the "headliner" gets the full attention of the crowd before they're hammered, freezing, packing it in, etc.

Either way I'm definitely looking forward to Dispatch based on the footie I've seen on YouTube, as well as seeing some "old school" SCI (Desert Dawn, Little Hands, anyone?).  Gonna get a rabies shot in advance, though  Thumbs Up

Obviously to each their own, but I don't really understand what you were hoping for  huh ... no year at festival is ever the same, but the lineup this year features many in the family of regulars and seems to have a stronger focus on bluegrass than in past years. It's going to be a rager.

I'm sure lots of people would be interested in your tickets, assuming you have them.  Cheers

I could care less who's deemed the "closer" vs. "headliner" ... it's the truncated sets for bands that I like which drives me nuts ... especially when one which I really like is attending and has been getting hyped for the past 2-3 months.

Making matters worse is no nightgrass for cheese - definitely a HUGE let down.   When we see M&S get a nightgrass slot, that'll only be salt in the wound.

Might have to look into trading down my 4-day for a Friday and calling it good.

All I'm saying is the "headliner" isn't necessarily the "last" set.  I didn't mean to start an argument or get "spooky" or anything...

For example, who could say Sam isn't the headliner on Saturday?  Some people (not me, not ever) start packing up and leaving before the final encore.

Well... OK, I'll admit I left early during Ryan Adams, but that was different...

I wonder if no "official" Nightgrass slot means no late night Cheese at all.  There's still room in town for an unaffiliated late night Cheese set, so maybe, just maybe, we'll see something announced...

Where does it say 1 hour and 15 minutes? I didn't see times posted anywhere. I'd imagine they'll get 1 1/2 hours for their show.

The lineup needed "saving"?  I was jazzed about the lineup before these additions, and with all the rumors flying around, i didn't care who they announced.   Let's look at the lineup without these final additions:

Thursday, June 20, 2013
Emmylou Harris & Rodney Crowell | Richard Thompson | Steep Canyon Rangers  | Elephant Revival | Chris Thile

Friday, June 21, 2013
Punch Brothers | Peter Rowan | Trampled by Turtles | Tim O'Brien | Lake Street Dive | Sarah Jarosz

Saturday, June 22, 2013
Leftover Salmon | Sam Bush Band | Feist | Telluride Troubadour | Yonder Mountain String Band | Jerry Douglas Band | Sara Watkins | BlueBilly Grit | Telluride Band Contest

Sunday, June 23, 2013
Telluride House Band featuring Sam, Béla, Jerry, Edgar, Bryan & Stuart | Jackson Browne | Hot Rize | Natalie MacMaster & Donnell Leahy | The Infamous Stringdusters | Béla Fleck

Saturday is unchanged...none of the new acts are playing Saturday.   That right there is a solid little set of bands, and if you throw in a good solid Gospel act, the Masters of Bluegrass (are you kidding me?!?), and a little something quirky from the Milk Carton Kids, it's looking even better.  Leaving Mumford and Dispatch out of the equatio because i just don't care, that's a lineup we need to "save" by giving Cheese an epic long set when the park will be half empty?

Can't believe no one has mentioned the epic disappointment of not having Ronnie and Jimmie from the Geico commercials.

This has made me sadder than a Festivarian without a 4-day pass.
 :sorry

Let's have the Masters of Bluegrass kick us off for First Grass!!   DEL YEAH!

Sure there's room, but I highly doubt they'd be allowed to by contract.
