Ok, I'm a little nervous reading through this thread.  My friends and I were lucky enough to get Town park Camping passes.  The 8 of us will be arriving to the Festival early Thursday early afternoon (first day of music).  It sounds like most everyone gets there a lot earlier.  I don't care much about location or shade, but we will be able to arrive that late and all camp together comfortably?  Any input would be great.
You should be nervous! EEK!
On Thursday afternoon you'll be lucky to find a spot big enough for two people to camp together, let alone 8 of you.
You will end up together in Town Park, you'll just be 20 yards or more away from each other.
I would seriously look at ways to get there no later than Wednesday morning. Flower

Well that's a bummer.  I guess we'll have to weigh our options and make some decisions.  Are there other areas that we could actually camp together?

First of all you are very lucky to have 8 town park tickets. If you are going to Telluride......that is the only way to go. Why do you think people get there the Saturday before fest? My advice is beg borrow or steal enough time off so that at least part of your party can get there by Monday to save a spot for the group. F that is not possible, think about selling those tickets by offering them up for face value, or trade for other camping tickets, on this board. There are many people that would love to trade with you or buy them off of you. But seriously, if you want to do Telluride, get there Sunday or Monday and enjoy! Cheers

Hi My friends and I are camping at mary E Ilieum. does anyone know if they have showers there or where the closest ones are? I'm guessing at the highschool?

Closest showers are indeed at the high school. You'll have to take the shuttle into town and get off at the first stop.

I don't think the high school showers start until the festival starts, though.  Is that right, Sugar?  If you're there before then and desperate, you can probably use the ones in Town Park, as nobody checks wristbands until the start of the fest.  Once the high school showers start, though, they're the best.  You get unlimited hot water!  Ahhhhhh!!!

I don't actually know when the High School showers open. I've only used them once or twice.

"you'll be lucky to find a spot"

This is the reason why we don't do it.  Friends of ours scored last year and absolutely had to show on Wed night. They were only a party of 2 and they camped on a stone bank of Bear creek. Extremely uncomfortable. I'd want my money back.

Ah, High School.... Thumbs Up

Yup!  Thumbs Up You read that correctly. Two (2) Saturday's before FESTIVVVAAALLL!!! This is not a free option, nor is it sponsored by Planet Bluegrass. You pay for camping in Town Park proper for the first week. There is a day limit for a stay in this campground, year round.  :)

As long as you're getting there Saturday, you might as well show up a week early for ABGAT!!!

I have a friend who got tix and town park camping but I am struggling with getting there the weekend before the fest to claim a spot.  He wants to get there the sat before the fest.  I probably won't be there til mon or tues.  Would like to have my vehicle inside to sleep in.  Is it possible to swap vehicles half way through the week or is the vehicle pass specific to the first vehicle inside?  Also, we are talking about leaving mid day sunday to avoid traffic and make it back home by monday.  Is it ok to drive a vehicle out sunday?  I know, lame questions about arriving late and leaving early.  But hey, we will take what we can get!

I have a friend who got tix and town park camping. A vehicle pass? Really? Not very many of those...I'd verify that.
Is it possible to swap vehicles half way through the week or is the vehicle pass specific to the first vehicle inside? One V-pass=One V. You could probably switch them. But it gets very crowded, may not be easy.
Also, we are talking about leaving mid day sunday. Is it ok to drive a vehicle out sunday?  You can leave whenever you like.

And yes, a girl can dream. (so I've been told)  Cheers

If you were lucky enough to score a vehicle pass it should be the first one there.
The ticket will be traded for a sticker that is firmly attached to the inside of the windshield and will not easily transfer from one vehicle to the other.
Whatever vehicle you stick it to better be one that you are sleeping in such as an RV or camper, cause there are very few vehicle passes available and should not be used just to have your car close by. That's not the festivarian way.
I'd try to change your plans to be there Saturday. Thumbs Up
