Driving in from Ohio for my first TBF and I am excited!!!  Anyone know the chances of getting NightGrass tix??  I know they "won't be on sale until the spring".  Just curious if they were possible to get and if there were any trix to the trade.

just make sure you're online right when they go onsale and you should be fine.

I'm returning to the TBF for my 9th festival, after 8 consecutive summers & a long hiatus since about 2000.  I have my Warner Field/ fest pass and am driving out from the Bay Area around 6/16.  Please help me out with ideas of how to get an "extra" tix for a good friend who's never attended.  I could drive the person or a friend out who hooks us up.  Any ideas of the best way to find a tix for good people?!

Well, That's what I figured.  Propane it is.

If they're using propane it's fine!

The town doesn't allow wood fires, so alternate methods have to be used.

we followed the rules and just froze our butts off 

we are definitely going to bring some sort of propane apparatus.... because at some point the booze stopped keeping me warm

Those propane patio heaters work well although they cost about $150.
They are a bit bulky to transport though.

...so i'm finding out... i started looking for some online and realized that they're rather pricey. we probably won't have enough room in the jeep for it anyways.

Here's some other, easier to pack, options:

Mr. Heater - runs on the small propane bottles.
Ker-o-sun - uses kerosene.
Table top patio heater - It's just a smaller version of the one I mentioned.

The Ker-o-sun would require a tank to carry the fuel in, so it may not be that good of an option though.

The bigger group-camps and the camps that have pickin' rings almost always have some sort of propane heat source.  If your camp is lacking, just wander over and warm-up with the folks at the pickin' circles.  The tall patio heaters are great, and propane fire-pits are pretty good too.  You can have charcoal fires in Town Park.  It's the only festival campground that allows them.  Most groups use propane grills though.  I like to cook over a mesquite charcoal fire, and have had no problem with its acceptance in Town park.  For general heat, we use a propane fire-pit.  You can rent and get your propane tanks re-filled just outside of town.
