Hey so this year will be Telluride #4 for me, but it's the first year I got into town park. I would kinda like to join a historic camp if thats an option. What exactly does that entail?
Mostly it involves wandering around and being friendly.  But performing feats of strength or other entertaining tricks helps too.

Definitely feats of strength will go a long way.

Can you chop down a tree?  Are you able to leap tall buildings with a single bound?  How many tarps can you carry at once?  How fast can you run?  Do you have any physical limitations that would prevent you from carrying things?

Are you strong enough to lift a shot glass full of Crunchy Frog?  You'll be just fine.

Make sure you stop by and say hi!
Me and my festivarian companion can definitely carry things. we could also make pretty good tarp runners.....bagpipes make me run really fast.

Ok- As long as we are talking driving..... From Tucson To Tride.. The way we normally go is Tucson- Showlow- Holbrook- 40 TO Gallup and then up 666... Is this the best way?

I'd say yes.  I'm in Mesa, and usually go Payson, Heber, Holbrook, Gallup, etc.

Highway 666 is now 491. Still the devil's highway though. Evil  And get your gas in Cortez, it's about 10 cents cheaper than in Dolores. And why doesn't my keyboard have a cents symbol?
If any of ya'll get lost you can call me and I'll point you in the right direction. It's that-a way! yee-ha LOL

Hey, guys!

I'm a Festi- and Town-Park-virgin.  I can't come in until Monday morning (I'm going to the Palisade Fest that weekend with cousins, and I sure as heck don't want to miss the Carolina Chocolate Drops Sunday night).  I'm supposed to camp with a bunch of reprobates/friends from Steamboat, so I imagine they'll save a spot for my stuff, but I'd love to meet all you lovely folks!  I figure I'll just show up to the pre-fest events with booze and bacon (ever had a bacon bloody mary?).  Be gentle, though.  It's my first time.  Wink

Linds, not to worry, we love festi-virgins! we'll " take good care of you" (wink wink).

astone, stop by Wander in when you get in, we're right across from the bath house. we might be able to find you a place to land?

Topdog about 12 years ago I posted a similar post being a "solo". I was taken in by Joe Piche and never felt alone the whole time I was there. you should also stop by said camp and we can see what we can do to accommodate you. also April (hipchick) is driving up alone from Flagstaff I believe? you might want to contact her and maybe hook up for half the trip? you should be able to find her on this forum.

Thanks, I've been looking at the ride share threads.  I am not camping in Town Park, I actually bought a 4-day pass + HS camping and then thought I might prefer to be in Mary Ilium so I bought a pass for there.  I know I'll find some friendly people, everyone has been so friendly already just on this board or emailing me, plus if I bring my dutch oven there might be cobbler and who can resist cobbler?

Mmmm I love me some cobbler! you can partake of all the prefest activities in town park up until Thursday morning when the music begins. come by town park and visit, we love meeting new festivarians!  by the way you can probably trade your ticket and camping for a town park pass, you didn't hear it from me but that's where you really want to be, Shhh!

Ugh.  My company is sending me off on a new project, so now instead of joining you lovely festivarians on Monday, I can't make it until Thursday.  My camp compadres are saving me a spot, but that means I'm missing out on all the fantastic festivating that week.  Y'all drink bloody marys and eat some rum-balls for me!  And that virgin sacrifice may just have to wait...  Wink
