From their 5 years of touring The Stringdusters have crossed paths with some of the best musicians in the world and can take this time each year to invite a select few to share one experience. The focus is not popularity, but talent and vibe. The backstage experience is just as important as the crowd experience.

And despite The ‘Dusters having many connections in the “bluegrass” world The Festy is not a bluegrass festival. Rather than being based on one genre, the musical focus is on bringing the best-of-the-best players together, creating a schedule that flows, and offering a consistent experience throughout the weekend.

In addition to the Main and Southern Stages, there will also be some great programing inside Devils Backbone Brewery after outside programing ends, as not to disturb the very gracious neighbors. The High Country Hub centered in between the campground and the concert grounds will host a variety of workshops and acoustic songwriters. Schedules for those zones will be announced soon...

 Cheers

The Festy Experience, in just its second year, has already become a music festival tradition for music fans along the Atlantic seaboard. Hosted by The Infamous Stringdusters, The Festy is truly everything – and we mean everything – a festivarian could ask for: a stellar musical line up, workshops hosted by the Dusters and friends, local food, outdoor activities like mountain biking and trail running, and even yoga. If you find yourself free over Columbus Day weekend, head to the grounds of The Devil’s Backbone Brewing Company in Roseland, Virginia, just south of Charlottesville nestled in the Blue Ridge.

Hey Dayton,

Hope the Festy was off the hook.

Can't believe the news about Jesse Cobb's leaving the band - did you get any more info about that besides the toll the road was taking on him?

Best,
Billy

the festy was off the hook!
highlights...  grisman with the dusters doing a stellar midnight moonlight with dominick and grisman getting into a mean mando pick-off, the garrett gospel hour with jim lauderdale, members of the sextet, sarah sikind and more, the rubblebucket horns with the dusters doing some funky grass space party music, brett dennen was totally kick-ass (lalagay would second that for sure Wink), and the rasta vibe for the panda dub squad was perfect for a sunday evening Lil hombre
and the weather was in the 70's, sunny, and a cool breeze all weekend too :)

as for no jesse, it was bittersweet in my opinion, and a total suprise to most of the festivarians in attendence.  apparently the decision for jesse to leave had to do with a new baby and came about a week before the festy...  so, in a short span of time, dominick was recruited and introduced on the main stage as the newest addition to the dusters.  he did tear it up of course...  and he sat in on the space jam workshop which was actually billed as jesse cobb...  too late to change the info i guess...

we sure hope jesse makes it back out someday to pick another one.  he truly is a great mandolin player and will be missed by us for sure.
Cheers
