Camping seems to be sold out...

All except the High School campsite.  I know that there are other other campgrounds in the area that are not affiliated with Telluride as well.  If [ossible, I would prefer to not camp at the highschool because I always enjoy a cold beverage after shows, but again I'm not too picky.

Anyone got any good suggestions for the other campsites that are popular?  Or know where those refunded campsite tickets would be for Lawson and Mary E?

There appear to be a few campgrounds within 30 minutes or so of town, but the real question would be how do you get to / from the festival?

Aside from having to navigate dark mountain roads after a day of festivating (ahem), it's my understanding that you can't drive in to town or park without a vehicle pass, which will be harder to come by than tickets for a campground other than the HS.

Please don't get confused. There are TownPark vehicle passes and then there are Barrier passes that get you pass the barrier. These are given out by the condos etc.

Sorry, my post was confusing. I was referring to barricade passes, but used the wrong term in my post. It would probably be worth seeing if the campground you're staying at will have these passes for you. If not, I'm not sure how you would get one (department of Parks and Recreation?). Anyone know this info?

You could always drive into Mountain Village and pay for parking each day, then take the free gondola to Telluride.

Buy the High School Camping, drink what you will at the Festival and make sure you get the free parking. It's much better than hitting the wild life and then having someone else blame you because the critter jumped in front of your vehicle.. just because you've had a drink or two.

Having no booze at your camp within the High School grounds is the rule. That doesn't mean they expect you to not drink a single drop at the Festival. Moderation is the key! 

Can you do that? GOOD! Now go buy those High School Camping passes! Don't for get single day passes if you don't have a 4-Day (sold out) already! Remember, High School Camping DOES NOT include your entry to the Festival.

OK, so I'm a hopeful first time TBF goer, and there are campsites still available (for now) at the high school.  But there is the statement "Requires 4-day festival pass" on the high school campsite page.  But 4-day passes are sold out, I didn't get one unfortunately.  Does anyone at the campsite check to make sure I have a 4-day pass?  Can I buy 4 single-day passes?  What about 3 single-days (Fri, Sat, Sun)?  Perhaps I should buy the campsite pass and hope to get a 4-day pass in the future.  Thanks, Tony

Speaking of camping...I asked this question awhile back but only got a wise-guy response.  Here's the thing:  I have a high school camping pass and I was wondering how far my tent is likely to be to my car.  I mean, will my car be in the high school's parking lot or further out?

I'm asking because I've been having difficulty walking lately.  I'm not wheelchair bound, but sometimes I get enough pain to inspire the use of crutches.  I'm bringing a bike so I can roll from the campground to the fest grounds, etc.  This will be partly as a preventive measure.  I seem to be healing slowly, but the more I'm on it the more it hurts.  I'm not lazy.  In fact, my problem is the opposite; I can't seem to stay off my feet enough to get this to heal.  Not to mention my job kind of requires being on my feet.  I've been limping since September.

I'm trying to get a clear picture of what I'm in for.  I can't imagine selling my passes, but I don't want to be miserable, either.  I'm also traveling solo, so I need to be self-reliant.  I figure worse case scenario I'll muscle my way to a spot at the show and park my ass (though I'm a dancing fool so that will not likely last even though I know numbing myself will only cause more pain the next day). 

Any tips for a guy who isn't likely to qualify as handicapped but could be crawling by day three?

I don't think high school camping opens as early as other camp grounds so am betting you will have to park in Mountain Village which is a walk, then gondola ride, then another walk from the high school.  Overall walking distance could be less than a half mile but the time to your car will be significant.  The high school is also a good disance from the festival grounds so plan on using the Galloping Goose bus system to save your legs.

This is the correct answer.

Your car will likely be relatively close, but you won't be able to drive it closer and find a parking spot.

...and even if you did, your original spot would not likely be there when you return.

The shuttle system will stop at the HS, so that's likely to be your best bet besides your bike.
