I always thought the 35th would be the best line up ever, but I just can't see this lineup ever being topped.

Question:  It says Bela Fleck & the Flecktones (original lineup).  Does that mean Jeff Coffin won't be playing?  Or has there been a new incarnation I'm not aware of??

Cheers to Planet Bluegrass for a well rounded festival lineup.

Cheers

It looks like the House Band is capping Thursday off, I kind of like that. The past two years the performance has been bittersweet, because it is great music and it wraps the whole thing up nicely, but at the same time there's that thought in the back of your head like, I have to wake up and get ready to go tomorrow and I don't want to leave yet! making it difficult to let the music sink in. It will be a nice change of pace. I'm looking forward to this year, nothing in life can compare to this experience and I hope it will continue for years to come.

The original line up of the Flecktones is without Jeff Coffin, but includes Howard Levy (I think that's how you spell it).

So... um... workshops?  How are we going to decide which ones to go to?  I hope I don't have to make any difficult decisions.

Just think, if that Buffalo Springfield thing had worked out, I can almost guarantee you the lineup would have topped this. Wink

We still have the epic 39th and 40th years to look forward to celebrating, but I have to tell ya, it's beyond me how this year's line-up will be topped. Leave it to Planet Bluegrass Ranch (PBR) to continually go beyond the realm of the impossible!

To Hooch... The actual billing for the Flecktones should read...
Bela Fleck and the "Original Flecktones". No offense to anyone that may not have know that. The Origianl Flecktones were formed in August 1989 as a one shot deal for the Lonesome Pine PBS Series and included (from L to R on stage) Howard Levy, Bela Fleck, Victor Wooten and Roy Wooten as "Future Man". Mr. Levy left the band after 4 years to be closer to his young family with blessings and best wishes from the 3 remaining band members and support crew. Hence, the "Flecktones Trio" was formed. Jeff Coffin came along as a guest musician in late 1997 and became a "full time member" of The Flecktones in 1998.

@ Matt... yes, you spelled Howard Levy correctly. Anyone else wondering if we're going to have a "harmonic summit" in Elks Park this year???  LOL

Seeing the single day lineups just reminded me of how awesome TBF actually is...
How does PB do it?!?
Seriously, I don't know of any other fest that crams in incredible music like this in such a tight schedule, on one main stage, in the most beautiful natural amphitheater on the planet!!  Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
Thanks Planet Bluegrass, you rock my bluegrass world!  Cheers

Usually.  If memory serves, its usually a couple of weeks before Festival.  Generally speaking though, the lineups are usually in reverse order (i.e. Band of Joy is likely playing LAST on Sunday so they are listed FIRST).

Indeed, that is the case. The following line is posted at the bottom of the Telluride Line-Up Page...

"All artists are subject to change. Artists are listed in reverse performance order."

Set times will come out very close to Festi-time!  Thumbs Up

The lineup this year is phenomenal, but once again, Railroad Earth is a poor man's substitute for Leftover Salmon in that Friday time slot.

I'm not sure it's fair to compare the two, but I do know that part of what I love about TBF is that you can't expect who will play when.  I'm happy to see RRE, though I hope they bring the heat to the mainstage this year: in '09, they SMOKED at Sheridan and the next night were super spaced out on the mainstage... to a tired me, who was burnt from the night before by the end of Friday's sets, I really needed that energy again! :-)

Either way, here's to diversity!   Cheers

I've seen Yonder suffer from that.  I've heard legend of their SMOKING nightgrass gigs, only to find them running in a more mellow mode on the main stage.
