do the nightgrass shows compete against each other?  Like if Trampled by Turtles plays Friday night, would I have to chose between them and Yonder?

Yes, shows take place simultaneously at Fly Me to the Moon and the Sheridan so folks do have to choose.

Well with this decision you either win the megamillions or powerball so you can't screw it up.  Cheers

That YMSB was the first day I had even heard of them, sooooooooooooo glad my friend Patrick took me to the show. Amazing time!

They do put on great shows. I'm pretty excited for them to come through MT next week. This will be the first time I've seen them outside Telluride.
Man! I totally wish they were coming around Iowa before TBF. But they usually come around Iowa during the summer. I can't wait for the energy at the Telluride! Can't wait!

This is your first TBF, right? It'll blow you away. I highly recommend the kick off party Wednesday night. Yonder does a great job and you can tell how gracious they are that we keep asking for them to come back year after year. In all the times I've seen them or talked to them, I've never gotten the feeling that they developed an ego about their success. They're great musicians and great guys, to boot.
Yep, this is really my first time at TBF, and in Colorado! Getting really excited for this! My group of friends are for sure going to do YMSB on Wednesday, and I think Railroad on Thursday. My Girlfriend and I really want to see Mumford and Punch Brothers, but we dont want to miss either OCMS, and for sure not going to miss Robert Plant. But we may skip out on OCMS so we can see Mumford and Sons, they have been one of our favorite bands for about 2 years now. But it is a bummer, we will miss out on OCMS, but they just came to Iowa not too long ago. But we will for sure have to meet up for a brew at the Yonder show. Ill be on the look out!
 Cheers

Keep in mind that Yonder usually plays a show Wednesday night in Mountain Village as well, so you can see them then and then see Trampled By Turtles if they happen to coincide.

Regarding the "choices" you have to make, too:

With the lottery system PBG used in 2009 (not sure if it was altered last year, or will be this year), a lot of tough choices will more than likely get made for you (i.e., if you don't get the "all venue" pass, you have to try for tickets to each individual shows and some are in pretty high demand; some people probably get locked out of all of the NG shows, I'd expect, though in 2009 we manged to get 2 tix to Railroad Earth at Sheridan and 3 to Crooked Still at FMTM).

i know if you get an all venue pass you're not guaranteed admission, but if I get an individual ticket for the show am I guaranteed entrance?

yeah -- for sure you get in with a ticket.

the space available for all venue pass holders has to do with capacity of the venue minus the number of tickets sold/number of people admitted (a PBG official or afficionado might be able to chime in as to how the the math works regarding how many tickets are actually sold).

all i'm saying is that there are lotteries for the individual shows as well as for the all-venue passes.

you can often track down tickets to the show you want from the boards or at festival, but like the town park camping, only so many tickets get sold up front. last time i went to TBF, i was shooting for 4 railroad earth sheridan tickets so my dad and my wife could join my brother and i, but among all of us we only won the lottery to buy two tickets to that show and never did find two more. just the way it crumbles sometimes. :-)

I'd put money on it that Cornmeal is Fly me to the Moon either thursday or firday night. Trampled will probably also play Fly me to the Moon the day Cornmeal doesn't play it. I'm hoping Emmitt Nershi band gets a night at the Sheridan like 2008

RRE Thursday Sheridan
Yonder Fridady Sheridan

I'd bet by the end of this week or Monday next week they have the nightgrass info out, tickets usually go on sale only a couple days after they are announced. Heard lotto for atleast RRE and Yonder.

AKUS w/ JD are touring starting in June, and there is a 10 day gap before Phoenix on the 21st... Of course that's because Jerry's going to be in T-Ride, but would it not make sense for AKUS to do a nightgrass show while he's there?

To the TBF veterans...

What time does the TBF stage usually finish and what time do the Nightgrass Shows usually begin?
Do they overlap at all?

thanks
Jason
