Complete Newbie to this forum

My apologies in advance if this information is already posted somewhere.  I have a few questions:
1. Do any airlines fly into Boulder?
2. Is there any other accomondations besides camping
3.  Is there groups of singles who attend RockyGrass?  Traveling alone and would like to find community of others who might be going it alone.

Hi,
I'll give some answers a shot, there may be some with more Rocky Grass experience who can chime in.
You'll need to fly into Denver (DIA) and get transportation to Lyons.
Camping is your best bet, not as comfortable as a hotel, but close to the action.  There is a SMALL hotel in Lyons, the Aspen Leaf.  I've never stayed there so can't give you any info on it.
There are some cabin/lodge type places near Lyons and hotels in Longmont or Boulder.  Check the Rocky Grass pages and look under accommodations.  In fact, read all the info under Rocky Grass.
I don't know of any singles groups.
Where will you be coming from?

thanks Ruby Sue...coming from Spokane, Washington...i might have phrased it wrong..i do not have any friends who love bluegrass as much as I do..so no one willing to make the trip with me..so I guess whay im saying is...how uncomfortable would I be making this trip on my own...wondering if others travel there alone..is what i meant to say..  i am sure the bluegrass community is very welcoming and maybe i wont feel like a fish out of water..  I will check  out all the information on Rockygrass..and i have absolutely no objections at all to camping   Kind of sounds like I may need to go to denver and rent a car to go to Lyons?  or i could venture out and drive from spokane which is approx 800 miles.

I went last year for the first time by myself from Tulsa,Oklahoma.  Drove and it was wonderful!  Going each year as long as possible.  Camped and took school bus to site, no problems.

I would recommend taking a public transportation option (like Supershuttle) to and from Lyons.  Once there, you won't need to touch your car again until you leave.  It's cheaper too.  Also, it wouldn't suprise me if you met a new friend who is willing to take you back to DIA.

As a single, I also strongly recommend camping.  If you are looking to meet ppl - that's the way to go.

  Hi Jadewoman! Welcome to the forum.
There is a "hitching a ride" section that you can post on later, once you know when you will be arriving at DIA.  Oftentimes there are others who will be arriving around the same time who may already be renting a car and who may have room for another person/gear.
You have a lot of time to figure this all out, so don't worry about it. Things always work out the way they are supposed to. 
Don't think that because you will be traveling by yourself that you will be alone at the festival.  You will more than likely make a new friend or a hundred on this forum before you ever set foot in CO.   And, you will most certainly meet some wonderful folks once you get here, and you will find that it is easy to make friends with your neighbors, at the pickin' circles, on the tarps, at the workshops, basically everywhere.
Just read up on the topics on the forum and most any question you could have will already be answered.
Bring a smile and a positive attitude, and you will have an experience of a lifetime.

Camping onsite would be the way to go for you.  You will probably meet a group you can camp with every year.  Look for a Wisconsin Badgers or packers EZ up and you found us.  Your more than welcome to stop in and hang with us.

Hi Jadewoman  ~ I'm a newbie too and female single ~ I'm SO glad you posted this, as I'll be flying in to DIA too and have the same concerns as well - I'll be flying in on Saturday and then setting up camp on Sunday.  I too don't have alot of friends who are into bluegrass, but I love it and if you want someone to hang with / camp next to, give me a holler - nice to meet everyone else here too, you guys are great and make us single folk feel right at home..  YAY~!
