Hi there - so I am looking at lodging for 2011 (I know I am insane) and can use my frequent flyer miles to pay for a room at The Peaks in Mountain Village.  I have stayed in Mountain Village before so I am familiar with the gondola, getting to town etc.  Just wanted to know if anyone knew anything about this place - most reviews are good and I am not too fussy - as long as the bed is ok and it is clean I am good - the fact that I can use frequent flyer miles is attractive.  I just know there was some construction going on at this place - not sure if it will matter in Jun '11 though.  And my biggest concern is how far of a walk to the Gondola is it?  I don't want to have to hike Bridal Veil 5 times a day.  But I would do a little walk in exchange for essentially free lodging.

Wave

Any ideas?  Thanks as always.

Book it.. it's free.  Evil

Nothing is really a long walk in either Telluride or Mountain Village. I know. I'm old, and I hike all over both places every year.  LOL Suck it up.  LOL

As far as being insane...

Wave My hope is that I'm lodging in TP for the first time in 2011! It's never too early to start thinking about it.  LOL

We stayed at The Peaks this year.  It was less than a 5 minute walk to the gondola.  Very nice place.  The indoor/outdoor pool was a very nice treat.  They will hit you for a $18/day valet parking fee.  No way around that.

It was very clean and the bed was a nice treat after spending 10 days sleeping on an air matress in the back of a mini-van in Utah.

There was some construction going on while we were there, but it did not bother us at all.

My only complaint, well it's really not about The Peaks, but the gondolas close at 2 am.  Some of the Nightgrass shows go beyond that time.

Go for it and enjoy!

thanks a lot - this might be a dumb question but do you know if you have to pay the $18/day for car even if you don't have a car?  Wink

Peaks is under recent ownership/management change - for the better.  They are pumping $$ into this property and I think you'll be very happy there.

Don't know that one, but if you make the call we'd love to know the answer!  Thumbs Up
