I got a chance to catch them at the New Orleans Jazz Fest this year.  Great performance, culminating with "King Tut" done bluegrass style.  Nicky, the fiddle player, really came into his own with solos in many of Martin's compositions.

SCR is one of my favorite bands, but I was pleasantly surprised by how well they meshed with Martin.  He announced from the stage that they had already started work on a collaborative album, which means they'll probably be out next summer promoting it.

yeah i saw them at the paramount as well! now that ive moved back east, i may try to see them again at newport folks. i think they generally play the same set, but any chance one gets to see SCR tear orange blossom special to pieces is one that should be taken advantage of

We saw Steve Martin as well. the only difference is that it was our first "official" date and it was in 1976! He opened for Nitty Gritty that night, complete with the white suit and arrow through the head. We had no idea who he was. Just some guy in a white suit carrying a banjo. He told some jokes which were pretty darn funny but we thought that the banjo was a gimmick.....we were wrong! LOL
We would love to see him again, this time with all of our Festivarian friends! Thumbs Up
