Yep. I said it. That's all I'm going to say. (maybe)

(not that I didn't have a fabulous time last week...)

I have to admit it,,, Bela is getting a bit too abstract for my personal taste. I miss the Flecktones as well.....

I loved Bela's set with Zakir & Edgar!!!

Sound isn't always meant to go forward, sometimes moving sideways is much more interesting.

Isn't Bela's sax player on the road with someone?  Bruce?

Jeff Coffin is on tour with the Dave Matthews Band.  But, I understand, he will still play with the Flecktones.  They have some dates set for December already.
I liked the Bela, Edgar and Zakir set, but I could always go for some Flecktones!
They rocked Town Park the first year I was there.  Maybe again next year?

I will forward this message to the Flecktones' powers that be.

I agree 100%.... I miss the Flecktones in Telluride! If we need to bring back DMB to have Jeff there at the same time.. well.. so be it!  Thumbs Up (just don't make it public knowledge on their web site, please!)

I definitely miss the Flecktones too, since they are one of the big bands from my first TBF (1996).  "Big Country" is still the first song on my "festival mix" in my iPod.

Hey, wait a minute... maybe Howard Levy could sit in again, like he did last fall!

That would be GREAT!  Thumbs Up

That was my 18th TBF, and I will say the virtuosity was out of control. While the house band has always rocked, this year it was as good as when Strength In Numbers first performed. Brian S has been amazing for years but damn! I've never seen a guitar played like that. But back to Bela. When he switched to the Flecktones I was bummed- not because of what they were doing, but because i knew I would miss what he WAS doing. Now I miss them too. But that's the nature of a brilliant musician- always pushin the envelope. When Sam Bela and Edgar were playing that Flecktone tune on Saturday, I could swear I heard Howard Levy filling in the harmonica parts from down valley. As different as it was, his trio with Hussain and Meyer was amazing. We'll crave that too someday.
Speaking of Bela, I swear I saw some dude who looked exactly like him SINGING on stage Sunday night. I must've been drinking some strong whiskey.

The whiskey is called "Jack" in these parts, and yes, that guy singing did look a lot like Bela.  LOL

Oh, that Flecktones song was Sunset Road... played exactly at sunset!  Sunshine

Well, here's the scoop folks......

Bela Fleck and the Flecktones ARE TOURING next year, with HOWARD LEVY standing in for Jeff Coffin.

It's an ORIGINAL Flecktones Line-Up... although they HAVE NOT been booked for Telluride Bluegrass Festival, thus far......

Woo hoo Woo hoo I'm guessing this will be our "Bela Factor" next year!  Woo hoo Woo hoo

Keep Your fingers crossed!!!!!  Thumbs Up
