It's not so much the deer.... they bounce pretty well. Do be very careful of the Elk, they tend to be very large and very heavy. It puts a real crimp in your vacation when you hit one of those. It's best to avoid driving during dusk or late at night as the large ungulates tend to roam during those hours.
Cheers

I think I dated a large ungulate once...   LOL LOL LOL Wink Wink Wink Wink Wink

Was he horny????

Nice pics, Dustin!  Yep, that's pretty much what you'll have to work with.  If you are coming from Durango north through Silverton and Ouray to get to TBF you will be driving over A LOT of those narrow roads with drop-offs.  If you are coming from the north it will be less so, but the final drive from Placerville to Telluride has got a few areas that are not for the faint of heart.  Just go slow and watch the road.
If you're coming from Durango then Silverton to Ouray and around the divide is not the fastest way to go, although it may be the prettiest. (Unless there are rock slides on Red Mtn.)
If you have 4WD you can always jump off at Ophir Pass and over, or you can take 160W to Mancos, 184 to Dolores (Summit Hwy), and then 145 up to T-ride. Anybody remember the old days with the side trip to Dunton? That road is really good now, but the springs are private (but I know the owners ha ha)
