take your time, enjoy the views. try not to travel at night or during twilight hours (lots O' critters) and be prepared for any and all types of weather conditions.

If you are the driver then do NOT enjoy the views.  Watch the road.  There are a few spots along the drive in where there is very little room for error.  But there are plenty of overlook pulloffs.

O.K. Rick and Hooch, you two have come the closest to the information I was looking to find.  Thumbs Up

Talk to me about the road grades, twists and turns and what not. FWIW, I have survived 129 from Maryville, TN to Robbinsville, NC headed down the mountain on the back of a fully loaded 1998 Yamaha Royal Star, Tour Classic, scrapping the running boards on every turn. Rand McNally lied. It looked like a straight little road on the map.  EEK!

I did speak with some folks on the phone the other day that talked about specific mountain passes from Colorado Springs on Hwy 50. Thought that information might be useful to others as well.

Not knowing the roads, it's best to keep within the posted speed for the curves.
Some of them you may be able to go 10 miles over without problem, but there are some that "really mean what they say" or you'll end up off the road.
The only major grades between Denver and Telluride is Monarch pass and Dallas Divide, but if your car is in decent shape you won't have any trouble climbing them. Avoid using your air conditioner while climbing them so you don't overheat your car. Thumbs Up

Nice pics, Dustin!  Yep, that's pretty much what you'll have to work with.  If you are coming from Durango north through Silverton and Ouray to get to TBF you will be driving over A LOT of those narrow roads with drop-offs.  If you are coming from the north it will be less so, but the final drive from Placerville to Telluride has got a few areas that are not for the faint of heart.  Just go slow and watch the road.

you'll be alright... keep your eye on the road, but other than that, you *hopefully* won't run into any snow-covered roads :P

make sure you stop every so often so you can take in the views and allow your body to adjust to the altitude...

pull over > take in some deep breaths > take a few pictures > drink 64 oz. of water > get back in car >  Driving > repeat.

Nope, no worries, really. 
I've never had to drive there in the snow, and hopefully that doesn't happen **knocks wood**, but even if so, you're a Chicagoan, you know how to drive in that!
