I went online today at noon (as advised by a Festivarian the other day) and lo and behold in the resale section there were 2 passes for the Town Park as well as 4 day pass for the shows.  I was really hoping to get a Mary E vehicle pass but figured this was the better option since I still needed to get tix etc!  So here I am with entry and GREAT Town Park camping. My question is, can I bring my Vanagon or am I going to be limited to a tent...says tent and vehicle on the site but that sounds almost too easy.

I've read some of the posts about getting there early and having the good spots get taken and needing a vehicle pass etc. I guess my question is should I just plan to tent camp or will there be a spot for me and my VW? If I find a site where my van will fit can I use it wihtout a pass? Thanks in advance for humoring a newb and offering some help. Looking forward to the show! Wave

You'll have to tent camp!
Out of 1200 Town Park passes, there's about 60 vehicle passes sold so you can see how they sell out VERY fast.
They are an extremely rare commodity, and at this point almost impossible to get. Flower

Thanks for the response TellurideTom. So my next question is how far away is the parking? I envision the need to make a couple trips and stuff.

Sure will miss my van though...it loves Bluegrass music Frown

Thanks!  Wave

Depending how early you get there depends on how close you'll park.
You'll be able to unload all your gear before parking so unless you forgot something in your van you should be set.
You'll more than likely be walking distance from your van if you get there before Wednesday, and possibly even then. Cheers

Actually, now that I think about it there's probably only 30 or so vehicle passes sold now. I was probably thinking about how it was before the pavilion was built. Dustin would have to confirm the numbers.

Hey Tom how ya doin. In years past we have gotten there early enough to [park early Saturday morning and park right out on the road. This year we cant get there until Sunday afternoon. Do you think we will still have a spot out on the road, or will we have to park up in Mountain village?

It's hard to say as it depends on how many show up Saturday, but you may just be a bit farther up the road. Flower

I usually don't show up until Monday or Tuesday morning and we always get a spot on the road. Out of my 4 trips to tbf I've only parked in one of the town lots once. Hope this gives you somewhat of an idea.

If I have a Town Park camping pass, how do I get past the gate outside of town to drop my stuff off?  And then we can park the van in town [while not sleeping in it of course]?

No problem! If you have your camping pass with you just show it.
If they're at will call, then tell them and they'll let you through.
Once you've unloaded your gear the people at the entrance to Town Park will guide you as to where to park.
It's easy! Flower

...and even if you are directed to park up in Mountain Village, they have a free gondola ride back to town which is totally worth it to experience anyway.  Trust us...just go with the flow and everything will be grand!!

Yeah, last year was my first year at TBF and was lucky enough to score TP tickets.  Unfortunately, we couldn't get down there until Wednesday night and didn't know a sole to save us a spot.  We got in around midnight and they checked our tickets at a checkpoint pulling into town and then gave us a two hour pass to unload our stuff.  We walked/stumbled around TP for about an hour after we got there and finally found a place to squeeze in (thankfully it was just two of us).  Since it was so late, they actually let us leave our car in TP that night but told us we had to have the car out by 8am Thurs morning.  We ended up parking in Mountain Village and we actually really enjoyed it because that gondola ride is amazing and it drops you off right in the middle of town.

Basically what I'm saying is, no matter what your scenario just relax and go with the flow.  They've been doing this for years and it all works out.  We had the time of our lives last year even though we showed up late and parked in Mountain Village.  This year I will be there when the TP gates open on Saturday...but I still want to park in Mountain Village just so I can take the gondola.  And really, if you need your car during the festival, it is very accessible even if it is parked in Mountain Village.
