Hey will you pick up my friends on the Big Island and bring them with you?

Any recommendations on camping in New Mexico...north-ish of Santa Fe preferably? gonna stop in Memphis for some tunes & BBQ along the way from NC. One night in Ouray and Kara has never been to gunnison!!!

Any thoughts on the Dunes vs Mesa Verde?
Along the Rio Grande above Taos is gorgeous.  You can get right down to the river in places.  Google Taos Box and it will get you started. NM is beautiful but keep in mind it is pretty high elevation too, which means cool at night.  You might even get in a whitewater trip if you have time.  It's a definite adrenalin rush! http://www.newwaverafting.com/TaosBox

If you are coming to Telluride from Denver then consider taking the longer more scenic route.  The interstate drive is also pretty but back roads and smaller mountain towns are more fun.

Good move  Wave I stayed away from the interstate my first 10 or 20 trips to the four corners, still do in fact. However, I'm now simply eager to get out to see the family.

and aaaaa Hooch.... you may not be as cute as Mika the wonderdog, but, I'll still save some bacon treats for you   Flower

Can we go yet?

Can we go yet???....Man, I'm already there!  I'm camping in our usual Run-A-Muck spot and cooking bacon for squirrels!  (That sounds wayyy better than what I'm actually doing which is sitting at my desk staring at design drawings and toast crumbs).

Volgirl, check out Black Canyon near Gunnison if you have a chance, way out or back! Def. worth the view, even beter if you have a day to hike down and back up! Be sure to bring plenty o water or a filter to fill up at the bottom.

Also, Ouray is nice!...but once you get west its allllll relative!

Riding up across the big res from Flagstaff with my 9 year old the weekend before. We'll take the direct route up 160 through Tuba City, Kayenta, Cortez and Dolores on the way up 'cause we can't wait to get there, then take a week to return via Ouray, Silverton, Durango, and Mesa Verde.

Hey - anybody driving through Durango watch for the police at the Hermosa curve on 550 just north of Dgo, a friend who grew up there says the've been crazy about that curve lately. It's easy headed either direction to get going fast because the road seems wide open like a freeway but it's just a local highway and the police treat it as such. Just another Colorado gold mine. I always see folks stopped there.
