3 chord's and a story that's me

I'm looking forward and already really curious about the artist that was choosen  for the program and backdrop this year Flower

I was looking at the mountains and was amazed at how a fixed landscape could look so different depending on the sunlight and shadows. Much like the backdrops of years past. Always see something different depending on the lights. Very cool,,,,  Flower

Can we get a preview soon?

Oh Yeah, and if you need someone to splatter paint on big boards for the stage backdrop just send me a PM here. I know plenty of folks in Colorado that would love to help you guys out, probably for just a few six packs. You wouldn't even need to buy pizza!  Evil

No offense intended. Just think nothing is better than,... well,... I'm sure you get the point.

Cheers

I love the subtle effects on the sides of the stage and the plants up front. It really gives a welcoming down home feel. But I must say, the backdrops of the stage have always left A LOT to be desired. (Ok, the stampeding horses were pretty cool) I mean, 10,000+ people look at this backdrop for at least 4 days all day and half the night... That being said, I think the staff needs to do something a bit more engaging. TBF obviously works with top notch visual artists, why not get them involved? I myself can't draw a circle, but damn, I think it's time to retire the current backdrop painter! I know this makes some people mad, but it's just my humble opinion (And the 15 or so folks on my tarp!)

I don't know if you really looked at last years..... Did you see the mandolin and fiddle in the sky??? Flower

I just figured it out after someome brought it to my attention. Always something more in those backdrops. Not sooooooo obvious all the time. Flower

So go dig out your program from last year and tell me what you see.. Cheers

Landshark,
I'm with you there- I LOVE the TBF posters, which are very interesting concept wise and well painted. That's why I wonder why the stage backdrop is kinda, well, not so purty. Not that everything has to be just right but why skimp on the stage? I did see the instruments in the sky on last years poster, but not immediately...Those tricky artists...

Now Playing icon Listening to: Edgar Meyer-an impossible to find ' Dreams of Flight' on a cassette! Can't even buy a CD of it off the EM website!!

There is something to the simplicity of the stage that we're fond of around here...

We're all there for the music, and anything that is put on or around the stage in Telluride will pail in comparison to the natural beauty of the surroundings.

Much of the art in and around the festival grounds is done by a group of hardworking folks who start a week in advance...without them, there would be no mirrors, birds, or wild things to subtly enhance the experience.

We could go all out with some extravagant stage art to visually please everyone, but I'm not sure it would be worth it. After all, the music and the natural surroundings are why we are there, no?

I prefer the simple art, to accent the audible art streaming from the stage. The plants on the wings of the stage to tie the electronics of the show back into the nature surrounding it.

I understand that you might not have liked the past couple of stage sets, helixer...but you can't deny some of the incredible props that have been on stage. Do you remember the 10' instruments made from tree branches a couple of years back? They were simple, but breathtaking.

I don't see our stage designer going anywhere, as she is as much a part of this family as any of us...though her muse may change, as all artists do over time.

If you find yourself harshing your own mellow during the festival this year due to the stage art...do a "Telluride 360" and remember that you are surrounded by the best art, people, and nature that a person can hope to have in one place.

Cheers
