Well said bigdog!  Thumbs Up
I'm all for an open attitude, especially if you're attending TBF! It's one of those festivals that's just all about diversity, and if you don't like that, I think you've chosen the wrong festival!
I mean, I'm british and agnostic, but that doesn't stop me enjoying the gospel component of bluegrass!

great award for a GREAT band!  they rocked at telluride, had people standing up and boogeyin during the early afternoon set that they had when most people sit during those sets.

caught them again at the fillmore not too long back and they blew the roof off!

I feel sorry for this BobWilkie guy. He sounds like a really negative person. If you don't like a band, take a little hike up to the falls, take a nap, do anything but complain. What makes TBF so great is the diversity and the chances the organizers take in scheduling. Mr. Wilkie must believe the world, or the Festival,  revolves around him and his personal musical tastes. Or perhaps he doesn't agree politically with a line or two of a Zac Brown song therefore the band sucks. I agree with lalagay: I'm afraid Mr. Wilkie has chosen the wrong festival. As for me, I look forward to seeing some bands that challenge me to think and listen in new ways, when I disagree with a melody or a lyric or two of a song, I will think of Mr. Wilkie's closed, little mind and get up and dance. Thanks Planet Bluegrass for a diverse and challenging Festival.

"I will think of Mr. Wilkie's closed, little mind and get up and dance"

Although I agree with the general idea of your post, I think you actually are kind of contradicting yourself. Saying that someone that you presumably do not know has a "closed, little mind" is, I think, a little rude and against the whole idea of being a loving festivarian. I actually think that being rude to someone who has a differant opinion is actually a little closed minded in itself.

I dont mean to cause any controversy by any means, but I just felt that all of this negativity put towards someone else's negativity is a little bit backwards.  I guess I would rather just agree to disagree. BobWilke clearly doesnt like the Zac Brown Band and, guess what? That is fine.

Landshark is right to scold me. I was little upset that Mr. Wilkie was raining on a negative free zone with his negativity so then I go and drop some negativity on him. I almost posted an apology right after I posted that comment and should have. Glad the TBF community polices itself. I apologize to Mr. Wilkie, he is entitled to his opinion Flower
