The banjo as a deadly weapon


We all knew it to be true. The banjo is a deadly weapon, especially in the wrong hands. Now the world knows.

The Aspen Times is reporting that a Denver man visiting Aspen, CO, was charged with second-degree assault last week, after hitting another man upside the head with his banjo. The altercation took place early New Years Day at an Aspen transit stop.

According to KJCT 8 News, the banjo is considered “a deadly weapon” under Colorado law. The banjo player could be facing prison time over this. A court date has been set for February 6, but a District Judge has approved the player’s request that he be allowed to tour with his band until then.

There was no indication from the article that the altercation was musically related, but the banjo jokes are just waiting to be written as a result of this incident…
