Recently we heard a little rumor that Warner Field was not going to be opening until Wednesday in 2010.  A little fact checking on planetbluegrass.com proved this to be true.
What I want to know is, WHY, WHY, WHY?  Can anyone shed some light on this for me and my Warner Park kin?  Or maybe its just a cruel, cruel joke.

Brian?  Dustin?  Someone?

If I had to guess I'd say they need the field for a ball game on Tuesday.

You would have guessed correct.

Captain Pete, I'm sorry to inform you that the Town of Telluride needs their ball fields on Tuesday for games.

SO...we move in on Wed.

Sorry...

2 years ago they sold out in about 30 hours last year they sold out in about 4 hours. If trends continue it will sell out in about a half hour.

If we are in Warner Field and arriving early, will there be a place we can put up our tents until it opens?

Sorry, Matt. We don't have a "waiting for my campground camp".

I hate to say it, but you'll have to wait till the campground opens on Wed...

Of course, you still have 7 months to find yourself a Town Park camping pass. If you're able to do that, you can send your Warner Field pass in for a refund (until May 7). Flower

Don't have a Warner Field pass, and not sure I'll be getting one now.  Waiting until Wednesday just isn't feasible for us (19 hour-ish drive) if we want to make it to Yonder's kickoff.  I'm going to be scrounging tickets for Warner or TP anyway, so maybe I'll just shoot for TP.  If nothing else, I suppose a forest service campground for Tuesday night wouldn't kill us.  How close is the closest?

How close is the closest?

Sunshine and Matterhorn campgrounds are on 145 about 9 and 12 miles south of town, respectively.

Matterhorn takes reservations on some sites and has hot showers (one of the few NFS campgrounds that does.)  I think the hot showers at Matterhorn are available for use if you're staying at Sunshine.

If you're coming from the north, Ouray has Amphitheater campground.  Ouray's about an hour out from Telluride.

 Cheers
