... and your Tropical Tuesday donations!

Thankfully, the prices at the local liquor stores aren't much different than everywhere else.  Otherwise, I'd have to get a trailer just for all the rum.

What exactly is it that you need us to bring? I'm stopping in Grand Junction Saturday morning for supplies. I assume they sell what we need there????

It takes a village to make Rum Balls.

The primary ingredient for Rum Balls, as well as Tropical Tuesday, is of course Rum.  Any amount helps.  Especially when you're talking about roughly 50+ gallons of rum and serving literally hundreds and hundreds of community drinks.  So bring rum.  Lots of rum.  And fruit.

BUT - no grapefruit.  The best fruit for Rum Balls is melons of all colors and blueberries.  Even peaches.  Anything absorbent.

If they're out of rum when you get to Grand Jundtion, it's because Hooch bought it all.  In which case you'll be able to get what you need in Telluride.

There are also some good oportunities to purchase more rum in Montrose.

I predict a statewide rum shortage next week, what with Flamingo, Rumballs, Wander-in, and those rum free coffees at Run a Muck.

Better get some outlying Festivarians to help us out.

When are you guys actually making the stuff? Considering I'm arriving on the monday, will I still be in time to participate with a donation of rum and/or fruit?
I have a feeling you're making the stuff earlier on...
If not, I would be happy to participate!  Cheers

It's starts marinating on monday afternoon but if you need to add some after it starts like Tuesday - that's fine! Just open the cooler and pour it in.

For these communal parties, it's generally best to buy the cheapest rum available.  Nothing more expensive than a handle of Bacardi.  Save the fancy stuff for your home-made Mojitos and such.

I've got my donations all packed.  I like pineapple in the rumballs since I like pineapple in general, but they always get snitty with me when I ask them to fish out just the pineapples when they are serving it up.  It's only like 30 gallons of stuff so I don't see the big deal.  I'd do it myself if they'd let me soak in it.

Bevin, I did NOT, in fact, buy all the rum...yet.  But it was funny to see the look on the cashier's face when I demanded 2 cases of hooch.  I am thinking it's not something they sell by the case very often.

The rum balls are made on Monday, so a Wednesday arrival is too late to contribute, but not too late to drink them!
