Hiking Trails

Anyone got any advice on some good short hiking trails?  Staying in Warner and not looking to drive/leave telluride, but I'm sure there are some good spots to go walk for an hour or two and enjoy the views in the morning before the music kicks off.

Any advice helps, thanks!!

I beleive Bevin answered this last year by saying his favorite hike was from Crossroads down to Kamp Duktape, with several replenishment stops along the way.

I'll be leading a group hiking trip each day on that same trail this year, Mark!    It's short, no one gets out of breath, you can wear your flip flops, there's lots of places to sit and folks to meet along the way...  so what's not to love about that?

But for folks looking for actual exercise, you'll find plenty of trails around Telluride.  Just ask someone who periodically leaves the campground (unlike me). 

Of course, there's always the hike east from Town to the waterfalls, then up the mountain - that's the classic Festival hike.  And you can go as far and hike as high as you could ever wish.  Great views for miles and miles.

There is a good (and popular) hike to Bear Creek Falls that's a pretty consistent uphill but tolerable if you are in okay shape.  One branch of the trail actually starts in Town Park (near camp Run-A-Muck) or also has the main trailhead at the downhill end of Pine St (I think).  There is also Judd Weibe that cuts off of the main Tomboy Road 4wd trail that is at the uphill side of Oak St.  Or take the Gondola to the top of the slopes and hike around up there.  Or wander down to Ingram Falls/Bridal Veil Falls at the far east end of the canyon outside of town.  Just ask around upon arrival.  Bevin's hike is good too if you are still acclimating to the altitude.

The drunken late night 'Hike' in and out of town is always a riot!

  Not really looking for any kind of long/crazy hiking, obviously the festival eats up just a little bit of time 

  But it will be a couple peoples first time in Telluride and I figured there had to be some kind of trail leading up towards the falls, more just looking for a spot to wander for an hour or two and see some different views of the canyon!  Thanks for the feedback everyone!!

There is the Bear Creek hike it starts behind the Stage and goes up to the Falls
kinda of a mid range hike ...

you can take the gondola up and hike down the Telluride Trail which is a ski run (road) in the winter.  YOu could rent/borrow bikes and take them up and ride them down.  They have a great library in Tride and I'm sure they have some maps/books you can check out that have hiking trails listed.
