We have a highly experienced, enjoyment-seeking camping crowd going here. Any campsite food ideas to share?

Here's one of my favorite camp breakfasts - crazy good in absolute terms, doubly so because its so easy.  Thumbs Up

uncased choirzo (a Spanish sausage)
eggs
bagels
cream cheese

Cook up the chorizo then scramble eggs into it. Cook the egg longer than you'd think - cook until it dries up a bit. Slather bagels with cream cheese and then make an egg sandwich.

That sounds fabulous, but I'd leave out the chorizo.. Maybe replace with ham or somethin.  :drool

Hmmmmmmm...................

Let's see:
Barbecued oysters by the Hippie
Karlos's slow smoked brisket and/or hot wings
Sourdough waffles, extra crispy bacon (for Connie), and whipped cream
BBQ meatball magic marinara w spaghetti
Breakfast burritos by Run a muck
Anasazi bean tostados (should we do fry bread?)

I think we've got that covered.....

Remember to bring your own washable plate, cup, and utensils. We're tired of doing everyone's dishes. A $$$$ in the tip jar always helps  Wink

By 'harmed' if you mean 'gobbled down with mustard, relish, and onion' then yes.  But I may be speaking alone as the possible only eater of dogs in all of Run-A-Muck since I have such a strong stomach.

In this thread I was hoping for some more concrete ideas - once you get over 4 days of camping, my old standbys get old. There's lots of places to look up things like this, but I thought this might be a rich source for some excellent outside-of-the-usual hedonistic camp fare  :).

Here's one of my more unusual and satisfying camp meals - Salmon Croquets
2 c water
2 oz dehydrated milk
4 oz potato flakes
1 can salmon, 14.5 oz
bread crumbs
8 tbsp bread crumbs
fat for frying

Combine water, milk, potato flakes. Heat to thicken potatoes. Add salmon and 2 tbsp crumbs, salt and pepper. Form into patties. Dredge in 6 tbsp crumbs. Pan fry for 3 minutes per side. Have to work the mixture a bit by trial and error to get the consistency right. Lots of uses for croquets particularly excellent with pasta and alfredo.

A few years back we circulated a blank journal among campmates and I put together a cookbook which sadly seems to have vanished from my drive and I of course can't put my hands on the hard copy but one of my favorites in it is a super yummy, super easy bean dip our friend Rog makes for afternoon snacking. It goes something like this:

drained and rinsed can of black beans
jar of salsa (Roger uses a delicious mango goodness variety)
chopped avocados
lime juice
cumin, I think

served of course with corn chips and it seems like there is more that I'm missing but you get the idea. It feeds a bunch with only the bowl to wash.

I think I should have no other mortal wants, if I could always have plenty of music. It seems to infuse strength into my limbs and ideas into my brain. Life seems to go on without effort, when I am filled with music.

the best meal I ate in town park was blackened ahi tuna, pasta with alfredo sauce and basil pesto (homemade) and salad from our garden that we brought in a cooler.
We have a small grill/stove that we grilled any number of things, from salmon to steaks
I am leery of the dutch oven, which has provided me with too many river trip meals to count, and I wonder how many of you have gone to sleep, or lost consciousness, before dinner was served, leaving your place in the dinner line, empty.
