Oh .... those academy places are looking so tempting.

I'm starting to feel a plan coming on for next year.  Wink Wink
Carefull it's like a fever... I want to rearrange my entire life so I can just take one class after another...
Hard to run a business from camp though LOL. Sooo somethins gotta give.

Dustin and Brian how'd you get so lucky... pretty sweet position you guys are in,,,, trade places with ya Medal
You know what, if I can pick up some technique 'hand me downs' from watching the guys around the camp I'll be happy for this year.......but next year is a different matter Wink
Yep I can understand that completely. That's me,, this year just want to look, listen and learn.. not brave enough, skilled or confident enough to take mando.
Nice to know that I will get the oppertunity again next year..... Flower

True. Enthusiasm's fine but if I'm told that "it's in Am" I'd be floundering. Plenty of time to learn though.

Do the Academy give you a list of songs to work on before you arrive?
I wondered how they grade people for instruction.

There is a songbook link, but it's not up yet for this year, but I'm not sure what it's for?? Here are the songs Bluegrass Bill suggested you know...

Cripple Creek
Old Joe Clark
On and On
Blackberry Blossom
Redhaird Boy
Long Journey Home
Down the Road  Flower

As far as grades are concerned, I think there is no grading, just ability levels, which you can read indetail on their Web site(click Planet Bluegrass link on the top right) Cheers

lots a posts on what to bring including the topic right below this one.

http://www.festivarian.com/index.php/topic,4795.0.html

you can most definitely float on the river, and it is a most excellent ride,
(and hopefully not to rocky) so bring an inter tube.  Bring your instruments if you play.
 Cheers

The tubing is awesome!!! highly recomend it....nothing like floating down the river
listening to bluegrass music sitting on a fat tire tube, drinking a fat tire.... Cheers
