 Wave  Hi All!

Okay, I'm getting so psyched for TBF this year!  I missed y'all so much last year!

However, I'm a little freaked out about packing  EEK! I don't know how to pack this year!!!!  For the first time in 8 years, I'm flying instead of driving, so my usual routine of loading up the minivan with anything and everything won't do.  My list of "essentials" has to be pared down - A LOT!
So I have to fit 10 days worth of camping gear and clothing into one 50 lb bag.  IMPOSSIBLE!

If anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate any advice.  Time to get creative  :)

Depending on what you need/have I would suggest looking into maybe shipping items ahead....USPS will accept your things general delivery and there is also Fed-Ex (pricey though) in the Town of Telluride.

Valerie, i hear ya on that dilema. We are flying also and will be checking our big cooler stuffed full of our camping and cold weather gear. I feel comfortable doing that since it is a direct flight to DIA for us. Going to carry duffel bags on the plane with reg warm weather clothes. We are good since we are meeting numerous friends that live in CO.

That's great!  I could ship my tent and sleeping bag/pad which would reduce a lot of the weight.  I didn't know if USPS would accept a package without an address.
Thanks!  Cheers

Wave I'll second what ConnieLV said.... Pack everything in a duffle bag and send it to yourself, C/O General Delivery, Telluride, CO 81435.

Several RUNaMuckers have done this through the years with great success. All you have to do is borrow a wagon from a neighboring camp, roll on down to the PO, and retieve your gear.

Parcel post isn't that expensive, BUT you do want to check and see what the estimated time for shipping from your PO will be. You wouldn't want to have your camping gear miss you  Thumbs Up

Fed Ex and UPS will deliver to a street address if you can find a friend in Telluride, we've never tried to ship to a town park address.... Tom ? Rawn? Bueller? ...............

That's a good idea too.  I've realized that I won't have a cooler either!

Are you driving from Denver then?  I'm flying into Montrose via Salt Lake City then hopefully catching a ride to T-ride from there.

I know that I'm probably worrying way too much about this.  My camp mates (Bless you Bevin!) have already told me they will help fill in my gear gaps, so I really shouldn't stress about this.

I've already started packing some things AND making lists of what's to come

Valerie, where are you flying in to, and what day?  I might have a cooler I can loan you, and some extra chairs too.  I also have extra fleece tops I can loan/give to you. You know what the nighttime temps are like.  Don't forget about your ground tarp too, for your tent.  I don't know what day I will get there, but I can always come up during ABGAT week and drop off all my extra gear for Tom or Ron to dole out, since I only live about 90 minutes from Tride.  You could always ship your stuff to me and I could take it up to them, and it would be in camp already and you wouldn't have to get to the PO before they close to retrieve it.
When I get back from the Dead I'll try to get all my stuff out and see what I have that I won't need, and I'm sure I can come up with some useful stuff for the flying festivarians  out there.

yep, driving up from Denver on Saturday with a cooler full of supplies. Will miss the TP dash, but others will be there to claim a little bit of territory for us. Good luck.

Hi Cindy Lou   Wave
You ROCK!  That is so sweet!
I am flying in to Montrose on Saturday the 13th.  But you totally reminded me that since it's a Saturday the PO probably closes at noon - my plane doesn't get into Montrose until 1:00ish, which creates a problem since I wanted to ship my tent, sleeping bag/pad, and other warm bulky stuff.  Hmmm... rethinking this.  I may take you up on that offer to ship my stuff to you!   Flower

I'm with Camp Totally Lit; I'll ask Bevin if he has some extra room in his van so maybe I can ship a box to him.  I will definitely let you know.

I DO know how cold it can get at night.  And I'm a cold sleeper!  My usual bedding, in order from the bottom, is emergency blanket, wool army blanket, air mattress, wool army blanket, down bag, down comforter.  I think I'm going to have to re-configure this arrangement for this year!   LOL

I may take you up on that extra cooler too.  Thank you sooooo much!
