Telluride Bluegrass Fest -- 2011

URL icon « on: March 19, 2009, 08:15:46 PM »

We'll be arriving Wednesday afternoon/early evening to Mtn Village.  I figure it'll be 5-6 pm before we have everything squared away at the condo.  I'm wondering what will be going on Wednesday evening, would love to be able to meet some of the other 'regular festivarians' on wed. night, maybe hit a jam session or two (if they're occurring).  Any advice?

PS.  Any more word / work on the 'condo crawl' .. what night might that be on?  Need to make sure I make adequate logistics plans for snacks and beverages (any requests?? Wink ).

Rumballs are provided, no need to bring anything except a festivarian spirit.
This is the official opening of the festival for Town Park. His honor, Mayor Tom, will again open the festival. Not one to miss!  Thumbs Up
As far as picking, plan on making an evening of it. All the picking camps will be lighting it up. Alot of great talent in Town Park! Do it Wed. because they lock TP down to only those with TP wristbands on Thur.
Warm clothes and a flashlight is the formal attire in TP, cause at 9 grand, the temp does drop quickly.  :festivarian2

Wave The Condo Crawl Flower I love the way that sounds.... I'm going fishing today and when I get back I will work on it.... I'm still trying to get camping tickets so I can get in TP and Warner Thurs-Sun nights...
However not lookin so good.....

I do have a great alternative idea though....Not sure when we will arrive this year but our condo is Riverside and I will give you my cell #...... Cheers Can we leave yet huh

I will need to get a list of interested Condo Pickers LOL(that sounds funny), the name of the condo they are staying, arrival day and cell phone numbers....
from there we will know if there is interest enough to move forward...... Cheers

Yeah, like yonderphreak advises, stay in Mountain Village and go see YMSB at the Tellluride Conference Center in the heart of Mtn Village.  8PM, Wed. night.  You can buy nightgrass tickets (to be sold end of this month i believe) which gives you access to that show and several others in town, or try to find individual tickets on this site.  Also, Bluegrass Brunch on festival Saturday is an excellent event in Mtn Village.  They usually have one of the main stage acts (e.g. John Cowan, Darryl Scott).

Mtn Village is nestled above the town of Telluride, and the gondola connects the village to the town.  About a 10-15 minute gondola ride from Mtn Village down the mtn. side to Telluride town.  Or a 7 minute drive from the valley floor into the center of mtn village.

Yonder starts the nightgrass schedule on Wed evening, at least they have the last ? many years.  I saw it in 07 and the energy inside the conference center was infectious

Anybody know anything about a possible concert in Mountain Village on Wednesday afternoon?  This is from the Minutes of the Town of Mountain Village Town Council Meeting on April 22, 2008.

On a MOTION made by Dan Garner and seconded by Jonathan Greenspan, Town Council unanimously agreed to approve the Consent Agenda, subject to noting that a Bluegrass concert on Wednesday will be for subsequent years not this year and reflecting that Mr. Greenspan did not make a motion on the item after he had left the meeting.

Looks like they were talking about this last year and were putting it off until this year.

Also saw in the minutes from another meeting that they were talking about extending the bluegrass brunch to all four days.

YMSB Wednesday night is going to be SWEET!

On a side note, does anyone know if someone who has a Warner Field camping pass can hang out in Town Park?
