Hey everyone! Some friends of mine and I are flying into Montrose for our first TBF and in need of some advice... we're not sure what the cheapest/best way to get from the Montrose airport to the festival would be. Driving Is the only option renting a car and then just parking it all weekend or is there shuttles/other alternatives? I really appreciate any help!! Thank you, can't wait!!!

There is an option of shuttle, Telluride Express. You can find it on the interwebs. Gonna run you roughly $100 round trip I think.

My best advice on this forum so far has been: check out the Hitch a Ride section!
I'm a newbie flying into Grand Junction, and I've managed to secure myself a ride with some fellow festivarians coming through on their way to TBF... I can't wait, I know it's going to be soo much fun!
Not sure how many of you there are, but it's always worth a try, as it's friendly to the environment and a great way to meet new people!
Just post a new topic, with your date & place of departure and you might get lucky like me!  Cheers

yes, as was said, check the 'hitch a ride' board.  Many folks will be coming right thru Montrose on way to T-ride (me included).  When are y'all arriving?

I flew into Montrose and was able to catch a shuttle for $20. That was a few years ago yes, but a phone call to the airport would be an idea?

How many days is it now?

Thanks so much for the advice! I will definitely try the hitch a ride section. There's only me and my boyfriend and we haven't booked a flight yet, but I'll let you know the details when we do!

Ok there's been a change of plans... now flying into Durango. Is there any shuttle options from here that are reasonable? Do you think Telluride Express is still the best option?

Thanks for all the help!

Not until Thursday at 10am Frown

couldn't get any more work off before then...

Found rental cars for pretty cheap but was wondering then how parking works if we do end up finding Town Park or Warner Field tickets... is there free parking somewhere near by?

Planet Bluegrass offers free parking during the festival, but it may not be "real" near by if you get there the day the festival starts and you'll be parked for the duration of the festival.
As long as you have everything you need in camp there's no worries. Cheers

If they let you drive in on Thursday to drop off your gear at camp, and parking isn't available, you can always park at the free garage in Mountain Village and take the Gondola over the mountain back into T-ride.

As for shuttles, Telluride Express does have service to/from Durango airport, but you have to call for rates ..

        1-888-212-TAXI   (1-888-212-8294)  or 1-970-728-6000.

Hope that helps.

We are in Mtn. Village and have gotten word from the renter that the parking scene is not at all what it used to be. I will forward the info ASAP when we get it from them. It does not look nearly as "friendly" as before.

Durango airport to Tride is probably a 2 & 1/2 hour drive, unless you get scared on mountain roads, then it can take 3 hours. Go west (left) on 160 at Dgo to Mancos, hang a right at the only stoplight in Mancos, go 20 miles then another right when the road ends above Dolores, and keep going til you hit Tride.  There is a lot of construction going on around Dgo on the east side, which can slow you down too.  Dang it, you're gonna miss quite a bit on Thursday, but you'll get there.  If you score tickets, maybe someone can hold a spot for you or set up your tent for you so you'll at least have that covered. Do you have other camping options if TP or Warner doesn't materialize?
