Hi all.  Forum newbie here. (But two-time TBF-er back in 96 & 97)

Got my passes (yay), but no vehicle pass (gulp).  Which I didn't even realize was a possibility - my bad I suppose.  But since "camp" is a VW bus, it puts a serious hitch in the plans.

How often do vehicle passes come up for sale post-lottery?  Can they be had via any other avenues?

This is hard for new folks to understand, but as a 17-yr Telluride Bluegrass veteran , it's my opinion that Town Park vehicle passes are a waste of time and energy for most people and I think the Planet should further reduce the number available.  You won't realize it until you're there, but camping in your bus, rv or car in Town Park isn't ideal, and should be reserved for the less elastic or more differently-abled Festivarians, and people with brand new babies.

If you get to Town Park 10 days before the festival starts, there still might not be any suitable parking/camping spaces available, and the vehicles that will be in Town Park by the time you arrive will be crowding up against one another in the drive lanes, won't be in the shade or in an official camp site and, generally speaking, the few "real" campsites will be taken by the truly hard-core who got there a month or more before you did (no sh*t - this actually happens).  So my two cents is to ditch the vehicle pass idea unless there's a very serious reason to have one.

I've got a VW bus myself, but after having gotten a vehicle pass once before, I'll never do it again.  Not ever.  Not if you gave me a vehicle pass.  Not if you paid me to take your vehicle pass.  Seriously.  I'm not making this up.

The tent camping is just sooooooo much better and there are so many more options for nice campsites.  Use that bus to haul your rig to Town Park, then get it the heck out of the way and find yourself a spot in the shade.

Again, just my two cents (although those who know me well will tell you I toss those two cents around a lot  Wave)

Denied.

I do not like Laura Larson today. I don't even know who she is, but I really don't like her. If she got to know me, she'd realize that I'm a pretty nice guy and that I could add so much to the town park festivities. I'm sure we'd get along, but she didn't even give me the chance.

damn, this feels worse that any rejection I've ever received from a girl before.

Yo Captn Dummy
you have just pissed me off like no on else can !
Laura works her Ass off !!!!

so she has to be the Bad Guy ...
get the freak over it ...
and I want an apology for her ...

Dude way over the Line !!!!!!!

Well, work my "ass" off may be a bit of a stretch, especially this time of year, but I do have a lot of years under my belt!

But, rest assured that the Captn & I exchanged witty retorts off line & he no longer takes my rejection personally. I did not take his mean words personally, we all say things we don't mean in the heat of passion.

But, thanks for coming to my rescue Ron!

Most of our group were shut out also, 12 or more  seperate registrations, and as far as i know only one got lucky in the lottery. I guess we will just have to keep our eye's open during the coming months. Hope everyone has a great holiday season.

Peace & Love

So if we end up in Warner do we still get to be part of the party. Ya know party, visit, wander, jam, then chill . and sleep at the base camp.  Cheers. What could ya do. LAst year I remember a lot of ticket swapping was occurring that week and I seen some have know problems findin their spot. If it is meant for us then so it be.

To answer your question, almost never.  Even then, in trade for something almost equally rare- like an all venue nightgrass pass or something.  If health is an issue, there are very kind souls out there, so it's not out of the question.

But I wouldn't want one either unless I had an RV or a nice pop-up.

Not to have all of Albuquerque gang up on you, but as has been said, if health is not an issue- use some of the vehicle pass funds for a decent sized tent between now and then- I snagged the 11'X13' one we'll be bringing on Craigslist for 1/3 the cost of a vehicle pass.  Leaves plenty for an extra bag, blankets, tarps and/or self-inflating pad.  Come early and find a good spot.

"China" IS a sweet pop-up, and its SO nice to have the kitchen and two rooms in your vehicle, but thankfully health is not an issue, nor are there babies involved (chronologically-speaking LOL), so looks like we're tenting! Thumbs Up

How far away is parking after you set up camp?  Is there a special "lot" for Town Park campers, or is it wherever you can find?  Wondering b/c if we have to get there early to get good spot, I want to go play in the mountains B4 the fest instead of after like I orignally planned b/c I only have so much vacation to do this whole thing.
