I listened/watched the Council work session on special events today.  The only takeaway was that Town Park camping will be limited to 400 people.  I also think they mentioned that the primitive area past Bear Creek will not be used, but I may be wrong.

Does that mean only 40 pods out of 250 will get camping passes?  We'll soon know.

Interesting... PB got approved to use Bear Creek + entirety of TP, wonder why they took BC away, if they did? TP usually holds 600 campers and BC holds 600. No Warner field this year (as of the March meetings, which holds 400) So I guess a lot of folks will have to either take Lawson, Ileum, or stay in town. Also curious out of the available 250 pods, how many will go towards locals.  Yikes, sooooo many logistics to work through for everyone. Better than nothing for sure, but sad to see venues like red rocks open up to well more than 2,500/night (no pods) here in the next 3 weeks and the festival still be so "distanced". I guess the fact that so many people camp together makes it more dangerous? Even though they are outside & likely vaccinated. Props to PB for doing the best they can do given the circumstances.

It was $250 for a 4 day weekend (actually think it was more than that) but this is scaled back and over two weekends and you are only allowed tickets for one weekend.   I would definitely say over $3000 for both weekends, but the pods are only good for one weekend.  And I don't think the music starts until late afternoon.  Or at least that's what I thought I saw.   $600+ per person for basically the same amount of music as the original 4 day seems like a lot.  But I bet plenty of people would pay it.

The proposed minor festival event music times are from either 3pm to 10:30pm or 5pm to
10:30pm daily, which requires a 30-minute curfew extension for Friday, June 11, Saturday, June
12, and Sunday, June 13. A curfew extension was previously granted for the historic major
festival event dates of June 17 - 20

I can't imagine being in Planet Bluegrass's shoes right now. I mean no matter how they set prices, and amounts, campgrounds etc.. There's going to be tons of folks upset with the results, even if they do get pod tickets. Then there will be all the others who, rolled over and attempted to get pods, but we all know it will all be sold out in 30 seconds. Then there's the third group who never had rollover tickets and will be upset that they weren't even given the chance at tickets. I'm assuming they are holding back ticket announcements to try and get it absolutely right, or as fair as this could get.

Personally I think they should sell individual tickets, then you form your own pod group, and then have a lottery for pod numbers, per group. If you'r a two person crew with no other friends you just get thrown into a randomized pod grouping. Otherwise you restrict sales of pods only to those with a pre-existing group of 10.

totally! With the given situation, I fear there will be a lot more sad/upset festivarians than happy ones. Thats a good point about indy tix, Todd. What will people who don't really have "Camps/groups" do to get in? The point of the pod, according to PB, is to group  "folks within the same family" - even though so many people will ultimately mix in w random pods just to get in. I'd be curious to see a poll from anticipated ticket buyers of how many are vaccinated. I'd bet it's much higher than the natnl avg. Between that + outside in a very windy place, it's incredibly unlikely of any widespread transmission of covid INSIDE the gates. If it's gonna happen, it'll be inside camp jams & bars/restaurants. I really feel bad for a lot of the small vendors who rely on TBF for income. With less attendance comes less food vendors. The clothing/wares vendors don't even get a chance to sell. Damn, just trying to talk through the deets gives me a headache! I am happy to see your fest is doing great!

I kinda look at this year as a 'bonus' year.   Next year is festival and anyone with tickets still has the option for a refund or rollover.   Next year is what the tickets are really for.   This year is an * year, and giving priority to those who rolled over tickets as a reward for floating funds for three years, even if it is only a chance at tickets, seems fitting.   Sure there will be some disappointment, but would people rather have nothing at all?    It's an apples and oranges situation so i think it would be difficult to offer the option to rollover tickets to this year.  Can't imagine the logistics of that.  I don't see why anyone should be upset.  It is what it is and considering the circumstances I think they have done an admirable job. Maybe everyone shouldn't really look at it as festival. To the lucky few that it works out for this year, congratulations.  To the rest, see you next year.  It's gonna be one hell of a party.

I look at it the same way as you. I'm just playing devil's advocate by expressing what I am seeing on a lot of the FB threads. Most of the frustrated/upset feelings are likely coming from the lack of communication/info. PB is doing the best they can. We've got roll over tix + TP & I can navigate the web well, so I feel good about my odds of going and it's indeed a bonus

I think the people probably miat affected are those with lodging reservations, especially ones that may need to be or even can't be cancelled.   They may not really have the same options.

Yep! Definitely seeing a lot of those comments. Airfare & lodging + unknown ticket prices/dates is stressing out some folks.

Yes, completely agree.  Kudos to PB for putting in place a work around and I hope that the people who go have a fabulous time. Back here on the island I will be counting the days till we are allowed to leave our country & I can get back to Telluride. It won’t be 2021 that’s for sure.

Yay! Holy smokes, about a !,000 per person to do the whole thang! and only super limited TP camping. And over 500 to do just the normal weekend, with less music. I'm so glad they are doing it, but thats out of the budget with the costs of travel, food, etc...

Yep, like I was thinking, that seemed really high $$$, but e know people will pay it.  And we all know PB needs the income infusion for sure.  With limited attendance gotta make it up somehow.  Glad they are able to go forward with something.  Out of my budget though, even without the kid.

My wife and I have two 2020 TP and festival tickets that will now roll over to 2022.  We decided last year that we'd go to Telluride in 2021--if there's a 2021 festival we'd go to it, if not we'd just hang out, do some hiking, etc.  So we've got our plane tickets and a place to stay in town.  What's a good way for me to hook up with  folks to form or join a corral, hopefully before they go on sale in two days?

  And could post on the TBF Facebook page that you are looking to share a coral with someone.  Buying a 10 person corral for that much cash is a leap so I'm sure there are people that would love to get their corrals worked out before Friday..
