3 weekends in June? Damn, I could see spending a month in Telluride!

No better time to start!  A lot of good news & certainly most things trending in the right direction regarding COVID. Exciting to be getting comms from PB now! Looking forward to seeing how things will unfold.

Email says "three weekends of music IN Telluride" -- so looks like the plan is Telluride and not Lyons or other venues.  Looking forward to getting the details!

I wonder if there will be a vaccine requirement? Frustrating for us out of state people who require a lot of planning to do these Colorado events. We haven't received an email, and we rolled our 2020 tickets over? I'd sure like to know details, dates, if you don't go is your tickets from last year wasted, will it be new tickets sold?? So many questions.

I know we couldn't justify making the trip for just a couple bands, and for sure couldn't do three weekends.

I wish communication was a bit more open, even if it was just bouncing ideas around.

Definitely not much, but it is something. Will be interesting to see how/what they make work. Holding out hope for something with a little more resemblance to normality later in the summer, assuming everything keeps trending in the right direction.

There is a current proposal to the state (CO) to amend restrictions for venues brought by the Colorado Independent Venues Association. It was published last week that Red Rocks has submitted to the CO Health Dept. for a permit for up to 2,500 this Spring + more in the summer, assuming the right metrics keep trending the way they are. There’s also a proposal to allow venues to operate at 50% of capacity starting in April, with no cap on the max # of concert goers. Venues would still have to maintain social distancing with groups, but Colorado would eliminate the hard cap on attendance. As of TODAY, Telluride is in Yellow, which says 50% capacity or 175 attendees for outdoor events, whichever is less. However, outdoor AND indoor events under this stage are eligible for site-specific variances through the local public health agency.

If CO moves ahead with this proposal, the capacity limit would rise from 50% to 60% in May and potentially as high as 80% by July. The mandatory distance between parties could also drop from 6 ft to 3 ft over the summer, if enough people have been vaccinated. Gov. Polis said in a presser on Friday that the general population of CO will be eligible for the vaccine BY May! Seems like great news for RockyGrass + FolksFestival.

Of course, all locations vary based on their numbers, but I did think it was a good sign that the British government "set out a roadmap that, as things stand, would see the re-opening of large music events in the UK, with no audience limit, on June 21." The world is making a comeback..slowly

I found it nice to hear Polis stating yesterday that CO summer should be "very close to normal" - still a ways to go to overcome the virus, but an encouraging sign on top of Biden's statement about how much vaccine we'll have available by May. Telluride seems to be right in that grey area of time thats a little uncertain. Seeing a lot of July-Oct. festivals come back online, so we'll see. I know from the Telluride Council meeting notes from last Spring that PB was open to moving dates back in 2020. Wonder if there are any discussions of pushing back the festival date to Aug/Sept this year or if PB would rather keep it to a small series of weekend shows in June like they had mentioned a few weeks ago. OR if there is even any consideration of holding the festival with a capped attendance in supplement to masks + vaccinated attendees. Things seem to be panning out a little bit clearer since PB released their last statement via email last week, so I certainly look forward to seeing how things pan out. Cautiously optimistic for better times ahead.

The only trouble with that is the limited occupancy will restrict the number of campers in Town Park as well, so there's some logistics to be worked out in that regard as well.
Anything is better than nothing at this point.

Agreed, anything better than nothing. They mention 2,500 would be maximum, I wonder if they did it over 2-3 weekends with 2,500 each weekend, if it could work. Logistical issues there would be working it out with the bands, and keeping using TP for 2-3 straight weekends, where as it usually has some event or another utilizing the space every weekend that time of year. Oh well, things are looking up at least

Has anyone heard are these weekends going to be for those that rolled tickets over, or will there be all new ticket sales. Personally I don't think the full ticket value equals a weekend with limited capacity and without 4 full days of music. But for us it's way more than just the music. Its the community. Spending 10 days in Telluride without driving! Having time for hikes, rides and pre-fest fun. Then capped off with a full weekend of the best music. I'm ranting, so I'll stop. I look forward till the day we ALL are back for a full Telluride!
