It's going to be a long year, waiting for TBF 2021. Outside of having bands play at our property, we haven't seen any live music since we saw Ozomotli in Boulder last February. Still have tickets to a couple concerts this fall that have not yet been cancelled, but I'm betting they'll be shut down soon.  Concert

What are y'all doing to stay sane? We play a lot of music, and listen to a ton of records. Any new music suggestions, movies to check out? In three weeks I'm having shoulder surgery Frown, and I'll be unable to do much for a while. Trying to get in all the bike rides, and activities I'll be banned from now.

   Miss seeing all your faces.

Hey Todd, I hear you, it’s miserable and we have another spike in cases here so a new four week lock down started yesterday.
My saving grace has been playing YouTube on the big screen regularly. I play concerts or set lists of my favourite performers and it’s certainly made me happier. Cook a lot while I’m singing and dancing. Its definitely not the same but its super fun

Winter here and very cold ( albeit with sunshine). Really missing my annual dose of northern hemisphere summer and friendship.

I will see my first live music tomorrow with my favorite good buds Horseshoes and Hand Grenades playing a socially distanced drive in show at the Driftless Music Gardens. They are saying it has been 132 days since they played a show. It was February 26th with Vince and Drew in Peoria for myself. Since I started seeing live music in 1973 I've probably averaged over a hundred shows per year. It's going to be warm tomorrow but very much looking forward to seeing music again. The livestreams are nice and I enjoyed a couple of zoom happy hours and group texts during Telluride weekend, but it's not the same....
But as Vince said in his last weeks livestream about Horseshoes, "a claw hammer banjo and an accordion, you can't buy that shit at Walmart." Who knows when the next show will be.

Maybe it was the extra leap day that is responsible for the long year?

Music & travel & beer... not always in that order.

I am certainly feeling the pain of not going to shows but seeing the music last month on your property certainly helped. I have also been watching recordings of favorites and some live streams. Having a date each week to watch the bands that are doing regular broadcasts (like doing Dinner & a Movie with Phish on Tuesdays) gives me something to look forward to. It is a far cry from going to a show, but it is far better than nothing.

Today I am checking out Bob Dylan's new album. I am sure I will be spending some time with it, though I haven't even finished my first listen yet. Lots of new music still coming out and past catalogs to discover...

The John Prine tribute on youtube was the only thing that has come close to replacing live music for me. It was excellent and felt live at least.Thankful that I squeezed in Hot Tuna, David Bromberg, Fruition, Lil Smokies and Sam Bush into that Leap Day weekend with no idea that my life blood would be going away for an unknown period.

Its miserable here, we just went back into lockdown for six weeks, stay at home, no visitors, very limited reasons to leave home. Keeping sane by streaming concerts, dancing in the kitchen. Its winter here and cold and grey. Sorry I can’t offer any sunshine - the whales are making their migration so that’s exciting. Cannot wait to see everyone again, no idea when this might be. Stay safe Festy Family   Its a war out there.......

I always do, but this year I'm ready for summer to be done, and winter to be here. Telluride and outdoor concerts were about the only things I enjoyed about summer, but none of that is happening. Tulsa is laying down plans for mandatory mask wearing, hopefully it brings some relief. Our local drive in theater has been showing some cool old movies, and thats been a fun way to get out of the house. Wish they'd start having concerts there. This last week, I have gotten out to a few re-sale shops and flea markets to buy some records. Scored a great old Bill Monroe, Taj Mahal's first album and some New Grass Revival! Also got 1 record closer to finishing out my John Hartford album collection, and I did find the last Pink Floyd I needed to complete their catalog. So I do have lots of music to listen to. When lockdown started Monica and I listened to all 328 Folk and Bluegrass records we own in alphabetical order. Lately I've been having worried thoughts that this is never going to end. Here's hoping thatby next summer things are looking good, or acceptable for large outdoor gatherings. Peace everyone, hope you and your's are all doing well. Eat good food, drink great drinks, and keep your mind floating downstream!
