Prayers for John Prine

He is an epic man any way you slice it and I was so sad to read he is in intensive care....hard one.

Good news - his condition has been moved from "critical" to "stable."

His wife contracted first, and John got it from her while she was self isolating. So good to hear he is doing better. My all time favorite songwriter! I can vividly remember my first JP song. The first song my wife and I ever played together was a JP song Christmas in Prison. I just brewed a hoppy Irish Red beer during my isolation and named it Christmas in Prison Red. We've been doing "shelter in place" for 19 days now. Time to learn some new songs. Keep getting better John! Vibes have been sent!

Just read the news of his passing in the NY Times. A sad day for all festivarians and music lovers. I was lucky enough to see him many times over the decades, included twice at Bluegrass. It was such a wonder watching the crowd of 10,000 suddenly take notice and join in the singing, as we all know all the lyrics.
You know there would be a lot of people doing his songs in his memory if the fest happened.
We will keep the music alive and be together again!
Thanks John Prine for all the great music. I'm gonna pick up my guitar now and play some of his songs. Cause what else would I do? What else is there to do?

This is so so so distressing, what an amazing man, he touched our hearts. Tears, love to my festy family. Virtual hugs to everyone

Literally crying. I don't know why this one touched me so deeply. Grew up singing "Paradise" - as it's about where I'm from: Muhlenberg County, Kentucky. My dad used to take me hiking down on Aidrie Hill. So glad I got to see John Prine perform many times growing up and a few years ago with my dad at a bluegrass festival in Kentucky. His death really makes coronavirus real.

Luckily, John's organ donor card was up to date.  His knees went to the needy, the blind got his eyes, and the deaf say the ears fit fine.

Over the last few years we've lost a lot of great musicians. Many ground breakers, and many extraordinary performers. But, losing John Prine somehow hits home the hardest. I never met JP, and outside of his songs, I don't know much about him, outside of whats written on the back of the album covers. Still, his songs, his almost fatherly like presence while performing, and his stories both in song and about the songs have made him feel like a family member. Tennessee Stud was the first song I could ever get through and sing while playing the guitar. But, Bruised Orange, and Christmas in Prison were the first two songs I ever really felt good about playing. And Christmas in Prison was the first song my wife Monica and I ever played together. I haven't brought myself to play any JP songs yet, I usually cry when I sing most of them anyway, and I know there's no way I could get through any without balling. Holding back the tears as I type this.
May your songs live on for ever.

He touched so many souls with his songs and stories and will be in our hearts for ages.
