Wow, I’m so happy to be a music fan in Australia at the moment.

Suddenly we are getting a whole bunch of great performers playing here. Saw Molly Tuttle a couple of weeks ago; The Punch Brothers finished a fantastic tour recently; Steep Canyon Rangers are in town next month; Brandi Carlile is coming and of, course, my beloved Greensky has announced their first performances down under.

I had never known of any of these people until a few years ago and suddenly I feel like I’m being visited by friends. My point is - I grew to love this music because I come to Telluride and get to learn of so many amazing performers in your country. Bands and musicians we never hear about. I’m so grateful that I’ve become part of the festival family but I also have to say it’s a major thrill  that they are discovering Australia.

Music that transcends culture and countries and builds connection and friendship.  Maybe this is the way the world should be?

Are you in Melbourne?  If so, you should definitely go to the Spotted Mallard next Thursday (Nov. 14th) to see the Steep Canyon Rangers.  They're excited to play their own show in the middle of their Steve Martin/Martin Short tour.  Take a bunch of friends!

They were EXTRAORDINARY - two hours of magic in a small bar with nearly 200 people and Steve Martin and Martin Short sitting with us. Band was brilliant - 24 songs in the set list. This was their only gig in Australia, such a privilege. My friends were blown away, I was so happy to share them
