It's my first time attending the Festival and my sister and I will be driving down from Denver Wednesday, but won't be arriving until late, possibly 11PM. How late is the campground open? Also I've heard the drive on 285 can be sketchy with wind and animals at night. Is it safe to drive in this late?

I don't know about late check in- but if you are driving late sometimes animals will pop out that never stops me from driving late but invest in a pair of deer whistles for your car

Just drive slowly and watch for critters, and you'll be fine!

I am very curious as well. I have a similar situation as I can't make it to Illium by nightfall. I was just going to get a room in Crested Butte and finish the drive in the morning. I imagine it'll be too dark to try and set up a tent, no?
