What are your pre-Telluride shows?

Local music festival is Killing it:
     Mavis Staples, Infamous Stringdusters, Della Mae, Band of Heathens, Chris Jones and the Nightdrivers, Shook Twins,
     Cane Mill Road, and Wood Belly. Thank you OFOAM! I'm spoiled and will be more than warmed up for TBF!

Where is local? What is the name of the festival? I love the Infamous Stringdusters and Della Mae.

So Tuesday night we saw the Violent Femmes. Wow. You people also going to the Folks festival are in for a real treat. Amazing show, and since it was at the Cain's Ballroom home of Bob Wills they played San Antonio Rose and Gordon played fiddle. Highly suggest checking out a show.

1st night of Bluegrass in the Bottoms KC

Pert Near Sandstone - Fun opener, upbeat set.
Jeff Austin - He is obviously not in a good place right now. And even admitted so on stage during the set. The set was technically off the charts. Many say Julian Davis is the next Billy Strings. Kyle Tuttle was amazing on Banjo also! Dark set though, and Jeff Austin is the Jim Morrison of Bluegrass IMO

RRE set was off the hook as usual! (Some photos below)
Got to see Mike Robinson for the first time w/ RRE, filling the huge void left by Andy's passing. Mike is truly a spectacular musician, and really added that extra layer that was missing last year.  RRE had a shorter set, as for some reason they weren't the headliner last night.
Trampled By Turtles headlined, and played a solid set.

Jeff's set was great! It was just a very dark, moody vibe. Not your typical bluegrass festival set.

Just spent the last few days catching up with my old pal Sage Cook. He was in and out staying with us while his band had rehersals and on the way to and from a mini tour of MO, AR, and OK. His new band We Dream Dawn is killing it and so close to finishing his masterpiece album.
Anyway, caught two of their three shows this weekend in Eureka Springs AR, and Tulsa. They picked up Chris Combs and Josh Raymer of Combsy and the Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey on guitar and drums. Hoping this new line-up keeps going as they are truly breathing new life into some of those older ER songs of Sage's and the new material Sage and Aera are putting together is really good. If you are unfamiliar go check them out, they play Campout for the Cause couple weeks before TBF.

Oh I almost forgot they have an opener............Yes I said opener........LOS LOBOS should be epic! Caught TTB streaming on Nugs.net on Friday from LA and was completely blown away!

Yes they do! Saw them in the OL Box Canyon in 2007. Phenomenal! Blew away a lot of folks that had never heard them before! What kills me is they are the opener! TTB was unbelievable last year at TBF!

Alas, Billy we made it last year, but this year we are doing a motorcycle tour of the Black Hills, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, and Glacier National Park! So maybe in 2020. We will miss you!
