Hey FOM. Heard there was a big avalanche in town the other day. Hope everyone is safe and Town Park is still standing.

Yes, unfortunately someone died in Bear Creek as a result of an avalanche that was triggered from above by two snowboarders who apparently ducked a rope from the ski area atop Gold Hill.

Tragic story. The snowboarders probably had no intention to start an avalanche that killed someone, but it did. Guessing that there probably is no way of holding them accountable.

Hate to be the bearer of more bad news & still in shock / loss for words:

Only posting it here now because Scott & Sara were always literally front (of the SBD) and center at every TBF & its likely some of you may have known him.

So sad. Must be a hard winter there. I heard that even I-70 got buried by an avalanche this year.

Yes, it is beyond sad ... still at a loss for words.  There will be a celebration of Scott's life at the Peaks tomorrow (3/9) from 4:30 - 7pm in case anyone in the area might be inclined to attend.

Maybe there is a way to remember him in the Festival, maybe in the program? He's probably listening to a great bluegrass band up there now.
Death. as we all know, don't have no mercy in this land.
