This Kid and his band are absolutely setting the bluegrass world on fire.

Is their actually a chance he is NOT included on the TBGF 2019 line up?!?!

Not having him at every TBGF would be a serious crime to the TBGF fans and the Bluegrass scene; that is, in my humble opinion, of course.

I hope so but he looked pretty wiped out last year when he arrived and frankly, he has a crazy schedule already. That week he is going from Nashville to Oregon and you want him to drop into Telluride before he plays in Kentucky?

I’m an Australian and we travel big distances but that looks like a crazy schedule!

Fingers crossed that he can do it!

He was very wiped last year for his First Grass show.  In fact, he misunderstood the stage time from his stage manager; somehow there was a miscommunication. He came off the stage 15 minutes earlier than set called for.  If you were close to the stage area after he finished, it was like watching him breathe fire at his manager.  He was pissed and she just kept apologizing.  I imagine altitude and travel time had a lot to do with it.

He was also having serious sound issues, that were obviously pissing him off too. Whole first half of his first grass set the sound was all over the place, and seemed they weren't hearing themselves in the monitors either. Even with all that trouble and obvious frustrations it was still a killer set.

Yes I talked to him later and he said they’d had a really hard time getting to Telluride on time and the road trip had been pretty bad. He looked exhausted

Agree, it was still a great set despite the sound

Regardless of all of that, I thought his main stage set was the best of the weekend.  I hope he had enough fun to return!

Reminds me a bit of King Wilkie, about ten years ago, they came to Telluride and were amazing.  King Wilkie faded (I think due to poor management), and I seriously doubt Billy Strings will fade, but for some reason I drew a similarity.  I sure hope he comes back.

Billy and the boys killed it last weekend in Detroit for two nights with Greensky.  Instead of taking a set break the 2nd night, Billy and some of the band joined in for 6 songs in the middle.  That's my idea of a supergroup.

I don't know if I'd call it a "serious crime to the fans and scene" for Billy not to be at TBF, but I whole-heartedly agree he deserves an invite each and every year.  I'd save "serious crime" for things like playing drums in Town Park at night or getting a beer that's >50% foam.
