okay.. this is bad.. I mean it's good, but how am I going to arrange to be there for all of these gigs?
The Waybacks will be playing Colorado in April at:

Quixote's  on Friday, April  13
at  Colorado College in Colorado Sprngs on Saturday the 14th
and finally at Bongo Billy's in Salida on Sunday the 15th.

So... who wants to go? I am seriously considering another weekend trip.

AND then..
Arvada, Colorado  on Friday, August 3rd. This is with The Infamous Stringdusters, I think
(so I should just not go home after RockyGrass!) :hop

Will there be some other festivarians at any of those shows?

Cheers
LuAnna

Luanna -

I might be able to work in the Springs on the 14th... I'll be in Minneapolis the week prior and the week after... I generally fly through Denver (or Phoenix), and could look at what it would take to get to the Springs...

Gosh, I went on a little road trip for Spring Break and came back and everyone has made millions of posts to this thing.. and gained a million popularity points and become famed festivarians while I am just jumping around on this trampoline thinking about the next live music that I am going to see. I may not even be worthy.

Let me know, Rhonny.  I will have to sell a  ticket to a concert that is here that weekend... but I would so rather be out there hearing the Waybacks. (although I guess i will be seeing them in North Carolina in April, too)

OK... I have to see if my assistant has booked my travel yet... because I was going to go to Austin to visit a 'friend'... but I'd rather see the Waybacks than him too!!!   Evil Evil  I'll let you know tomorrow evening, OK?

That could result in some interesting jams.

so, Teresa and anyone else who made it to to Quixotes last night, how was it?

And for people close enough to make it to Salida. The show there (at Bongo Billy's) is a benefit for the local elementary school. Great cause and good music too! i hope a bunch of people turn out for it!

The weather coupled with an attack of common sense prevented me from making the drive out there. i still can't believe that i made the trip last week for Railroad Earth.

Hi LuAnna and all Waybacks fans-
Last nights show included no more than 30 people at one time with the average being 20 or less! SO discouraging for the band, the venue and us. Next door at Cervante's was Steve Kimock and others and their sound kept bleeding through, James Nash commented that they were having more fun. That summed up their view on the night.
Dominic was a guest player with the Waybacks and for that the night was not a loss. It was awesome to see him up on stage playing leads on his mandolin just like he was a permanent part of the band!
The band threw out some new songs, some were to our liking and some were too Texas swing for us.
There was a suberb new mandolin song that Warren and James play that we loved!
I guess that if they come back to Denver that we will need to help spread the word and get some folks out to support them!
We missed you LuAnna!

 huh

Well, let's all get there for the gig in August in Arvada then!  It's the Friday after RockyGrass, I think.

sound bleeding through.  bummer.  Even a small crowd deserves better than that.  When i saw that the venue was Quixotes, I was thinking .. "uh.. not good"

I will be seeing them at Merlefest in couple of weeks where there will be huge enthusiastic crowds  at all of their sets and an EXCELLENT sound system. Wish you could be there!

 Cheers
LuAnna

Hi LuAnna;
It would be just awesome if you and Dave and I and other festivarians go see the Waybacks here in my hometown! I am looking forward to extending the fun!
Our home is open to you, always.

I LOVE all of the music that usually comes through Quixotes and the other venues, but I have to say, I do fear for my safety around those venues.  I have been going to that group of venues for years, but my last concert there, JJ Grey & Mofro, was a scary experience.  It just so happened the very next night there was a shooting in the same spot I was walking the night of the concert.

I usually try and bus/cab it to Denver from Boulder (as I like to have one or two at the concert).  I consider myself pretty experienced in urban areas (I grew up in Miami), but I was definitely out of my element.  I would not reccomend anyone walk around there if you are not in a group, or try and catch a cab directly outside the venue.

I just wonder if others feel the same way, and as a result, tend to stay away from these venues.  If a band is in town for a few days, I will always try and catch them elsewhere.

I will definitely try and make the August show in Arvada.
