Im driving  from Cincinnati and will be in Durango for a few days before the festival. I’m curious if anyone has any info on fire 416, I’m sure it’s too soon to tell but I’ve already planned to bypass the million dollar highway and back track to south fork and up to creede and around. Unfortunately I haven’t researched any trails in this area, anyone have suggestions? Hoping the air quality doesn’t suffer too much.

On another note I hope all is well and the damage is minimal. Best wishes to the locals and the firefighters  with the struggles they’re encountering. -Joseph and Katie

Just a note, we will be arriving in Colorado around the 12th, so I will have to ample time to explore the area. Will keep checking for updates on the fire

North of Creede is a town called Lake City which is cool place to check out.  Also, the Alpine Loop starts there, and that dirt road is passable by regular car for quite a ways if you want to see some old mining buildings and great views.

Here is a link to information on the 416 Fire.  You can also look up wildfire info on any wildfire in the US. https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/5822/
