What I don't want to see while festivating in Telluride! : huh

1. News, particularly political.
2. People in cars on cell phones, eating, smoking, trying to drive, while in a hurry.
3. Computers, other than those connected to a microphone, recording.
4. Work / also includes people buried in there cell phone or Blueberry.
(It seems the more "connected" we get, the more antisocial people can be.)
5. Anyone in a hurry, other than to make a show.
6. Pollution, noise or air etc.
7. Planes
8. Tension, to many wound up people!
9. McDonalds or any type of fast food establishment!
10. Daily accounts of record gas prices.

Telluride should be treated as a vacation from the world and there are very few places that this could ever happen so completely as here. Leave your computers and cell phones, your Blueberries and the world behind for the week. It can all wait till you leave the valley and reality set back in on Monday as you see Telluride fade in your rear view mirror.

Telluride is good for the sole!  Thumbs Up

Feel free to add to my list!

Unfortunately there are those of us who can attend only because we have those modern day conveniences.

If you don't want to see a plane... don't look up.  When I am looking up though, and happen to see a plane, I wonder if those people up there are aware of the FUN that is taking place below them.  Sitting up there in their cramped little chairs, trying to work, sleep, or listening to their iPods... I traveled for work, you see... I've been there way too many times.

My addition to your list?  Judgement.  I don't want to see judgement from others, but more importantly, I don't want to see judgement from myself.

Does my list come across as judgmental? I don't mean to be.

Nope... not at all!  Flower  That's YOUR list... the judgement bit is on MY list.  It's more a reminder to myself than anything.

it's easy to be judgmental, we are all  judgmental to some extent. it's an instinct. Telluride is one of those places where judgement can be checked at the door.

I want to add snow to the list, it snowed an inch here yesterday morning and we're having flurries right now!!!

Come One, Come All, Its FESTIVATION Time!

URL icon « Reply #6 on: June 11, 2008, 12:29:16 PM »

This being my 20th Festival

I want to see everyone having a great time.

I don't wish to cry, but some band or special activity (rain, a song, etc) always puts a damper on that.

I want partially cloudy skies without too much rain to help shield us from the sun.

Giving thanks to those that hold court throughout the night, braving and sacrificing the cold and sleep and and sitting in crampy chaise lounges to receive the ultimate prize in the morning, a lower number lottery ticket for the privelage to run with the bulls and ducks and birds snapping the tarp with the flick of the wrist and laying it all out within seconds, claiming space for the day. Do not forget to acknowledge people doing this great service, by making them breakfast, relieving them for porto services and a bit of morning hooch, wherever and whenever the need arises.

Appreciating the fact that lost and found plays such an important role for so many of us and may we always find what we have lost and seek & what we found and turned in. karma rules!

God Bless the Instrument Check!

I can't wait to see all the people I've met over the years once again.

Wondering, Where's Waldo?

Seeing my beautiful friend in the Italian Foodbooth that remembers me each year and every year, year after year.

Spraying water up and down the lines of people the waterin trough/fill station of those waiting to refill and refresh.

Envying the line of those who are allowed ice cream at Rolling Cones

Sifting through the bargain tubs at the bargain bins at the vendors and surprising my wife with a new bauble.

meeting this year's newbies and tarp mates and the warm glow we all experience as new friends

Scalping all my extra tickets at  exorbitant  rates I'M JOKING I'M JOKING!

Saying hello to staff members past and present, thanking them for the great job they are doing.

Stopping by the Med Tent and thank them again for the year I stayed with them most of the weekend and introduced me to the joys of oxygen! If you have a problem, they are the nicest people to help sort you out. Not forgetting to throw something towards the tip jar.

The joy of hearing a band I have never heard of and being grateful that I stuck around to learn something new.

The luxury of Warner Field and the camaraderie of The Town Park Folks UberFestival

That early morning shower before everyone is up and running and using all the quarters I want to have a great hot douche.

Catching that rare show in Elk's Park, home to one of kind musical experiences!

Enjoying the moment when my beautiful wife and life companion goes against my stubborness and pulls a total random act of kindness and shocks me out of my belief systems

The Hugs, the tears, the smiles, the get togethers and the happiness everyone exudes

Looking favorable at the police force, knowing they are there for safety to one another.

The annual stroll through the streets of Telluride, gushing over the fact that this is MY TOWN, one I only want to visit and never live in. Its my vacation place!

Reading and re-reading the program bios and schedules over and over

ReThinking all of the experiences I've had over the years, starting in '83

Wishing TimO's wife Happy Birthday Every Year

The road most traveled this week almost every year

The annual choosing of My sun hat

Tarp O Mania, the oddest and oldest game of TWISTER in T-Ride

HIGH ALTITUDE

A pint of Guinness at O'bannons early one morning

Eating breakfast in town with friends

A massage, Always a massage

Gazing into the eyes of my wife Avril, realizing how lucky I AM to be with her and the amazing sacrifices she's made because of the way I am.

The touching moments of wonderful, enthusiastic music, setting trends that only this festival can do.

Laughing at myself and all the fun adventures I can remember having here

Remembering Pastor Mustard, and now that he's no longer, I really miss him. Here's to Heen

Stopping By Craig Ferguson's table, personally thanking him for the backstage passes and hospitality.

I had snow/rain on my list originaly but didn't want to go there. knock on wood.

My original list wasn't being judgmental,
these are just a list of things I won't miss at home in the big city while away in Telluride.

I guess I should have made this:

"What I want to see while I'm away in Telluride", but my list would have been much to large,
so I went the other way for time sake.

Ron... no offense, but I don't want to marry you or Dewstar.  There are now sanctions in all 50 states on my getting married again.

But you boys are sweet!

Indeed I do not!

And following Brother Bevin's example of class... I shall just smile to myself thinking of the remainder of my little comeback quip!
