Can you get the script and only take them if you are experiencing problems, or is it something you have to take prior to achieving elevation?

Nah, you take them two days prior.

It is ok, I will be the slightly slower, very much sober person talking in an accent you can’t follow, easy!

I'm fluent in Australian. Two of my best mates are queenslanders. They tell the best drop bear stories! BTW I love the Ramones, but I can't play any of their songs.

I have used diamox in past for fast acclimatizing to backpacking Sierras here in Cali (getting up to 10-12K feet day 1). Take 2-3 days before you need to get on the trail. 

Yes, it has worked, but I hated it.  Lots of mild, manageable, but still very noticeable jittery/nerve inducing sensation and some, umm, noxious, umm fumes and stomach rumbles.

It really would be ideal to get at least 1 day in Denver before setting out.

I'm taking my family to Sante Fe en route; 2 nights at 7,000 feet before we get to 8,700 of the town.  Hoping that works.  Last time I took my little guy out for a hike ~7-8000 feet here in SoCal, he did not respond well.  So here's to that!

The best way to acclimate is to come a week early and work your way up to elevation. No meds necessary that way.  Ginger is good to help with altitude sickness. Get some candied, or ginger snaps or ginger tincture, drink some good ginger beer, anything with some ginger. Ginger CBD pills can work well too. Drink a lot of water and eat a banana for the extra potassium your body will need.
Before you fly, take some niacin with a meal. Here is one of the many uses for it :Motion Sickness
I use a combination of niacin (200 to 300 mg) and papaya tablets to avoid motion sickness. Taking the niacin along with two or three papaya tablets about 15 minutes before flying in small airplanes or riding in automobiles can work wonders.  Good luck!

We are coming from 30ft elevation in Texas. We are planning on bringing oxygen with us. Will they alllow us to wheel a small oxygen canister into the festival?

I live at 7000' and I still have to adjust when I go to Telluride. It's so dry right now which does not help the fact that higher elevation tends to give me nosebleeds. And ladies, don't be surprised if you get your period. Used to happen to me every time even if it wasn't time. Be prepared.

I live at 5 ft above sea level here in Baton Rouge, LA lol.

My daughter is good for at least one or two nosebleeds every year.  This year gonna try and remember to bring some saline spray.
