There's been a big ongoing one next to the old Transfer Warehouse (across from Village Markup), but they've just broken ground on a project across from BIT that will likely be a bit of a nuisance during the festival.   Was eating a danish there today and noticed they knocked the old light blue building down.

Aside from a gazillion residential projects, there are a good handful of other commercial ones underway.

Yes, I did notice quite a bit of construction all over town when I was up there on Wednesday.

It seems the economy in Telluride is booming if there's that much construction going on.

Time will tell whether that's a good thing or not.  Wink

Another project of note is a remodel of The Buck (Last Dollar Saloon).  The interior is currently almost completely gutted (will try to post pic later), along with the roof, as well as many of the windows / rough openings on the western facade.   Not sure if this article mentions it, but there's apparently a new restaurant in the works at the far southern end of the same building (where it meets the alley).

^ Construction crews appear to be working hard and more power to them if they succeed, but I believe they're a bit optimistic for a June re-opening.

As to whether or not it's a "good thing", I suppose this depends upon you who you ask.   The owners of this building will probably reap long term rewards; however, to what expense of the commercial tenants?  I bring this up since there are other commercial properties that apparently have re-models planned and waiting in the pipeline ... Esperanza's was given a brief reprieve from getting the boot.  Likewise, Shanghi Palace / old Down to Earth / Wizard building is also on the chopping block.   IMO, these are steriod shots for development interests, and will only serve accelerate the "Aspen-ization" of the town.   People who like to wear fur coats feel more "comfortable" in a space such as The Liberty vs. the old OB's.   And when people who wear fur coats see more people also wearing them, it snowballs ... to put it in simple terms.

Here's a more recent photo of the new construction - looks to be taken just outside the door of the Village Markup.  They've now closed / fenced out all streets at that intersection for a half a block in each direction.   Not sure if this configuration will be in place for the remainder of the project, or just for excavation / concrete?

The Last Dollar was the best and most reasonably priced watering hole in town. Frequent place of refuge between walks to Elks Park.  Frown

Yes, it opened a couple months ago ... it looks similar but with a little "polish" & has been truncated a bit.   I believe a portion of the stage area was claimed by the new restaurant that is going to reside in the southern portion of that building.

Thank you FoM. Hopefully they still have those $2 PBRs. Good for hydration on the walk to and from Elks Park.  Cheers

Beyond maybe a shower beer, there are fewer simple pleasures in life than a $2 PBR!    Thumbs Up

Clearly the quality of beer is much better in Town Park. But sometimes a barstool and a cheap cold beer is satisfactory, especially on a nice hot day.  Cheers

I'm not sure about PBR's ... not really a beer drinker.  But here's an article about new restaurant in back part of building:

Has a weird glass wall in the back to watch people walk up/down stairs to the roof top.  nothing like the feel that used to be.

now the elks lodge...that's where it was at recently with Lonesome Days......

lets bring a band back there during nightgrass!
