I've read a few other threads but wasn't sure - where would it be better to stop on the way for groceries, a couple of chairs and a tarp - Grand Junction or Montrose.  Grand Junction is bigger and seems to have a bunch of stores but Montrose might be more convenient.  I suspect I could get what I want in either place but wanted some opinions.  Never been to Colorado before - first TBF  :)

We're stopping in Montrose.  I've heard from a reliable source there are a few local merchants (city market) to get food and such from and a liqour store (corks) plus a WalMart if needed.  Good luck!

I agree either one will have what you want. I plan on hitting the Liquor Barn on my way down to TBF. It is in Grand Junction It's behind the mall, huge and they have a great selection. it is outside of town so the taxes are less also. At the mall there's a Target and just down the road a Super Walmart. If you take hwy 70 I think it is 24rd exit to the mall (Hooch or Daniela a lttle help with the directions) then back east towards town and you drive right by the City Market.

Montrose on the other hand, everything is on the main drag, City Market, liquor store and Walmart.

Hmmm tough decisions. Also there are several liquor stores and a small grocery store in Telluride that are all walking distance to TP and the festival grounds. Just in case you forget anything.

It's become one of my traditions to stop in Grand Junction on the way to Telluride from SLC.  The liquor is cheaper (no Mormon "sin" tax!) and there's a Sportsman's and an REI for items like replacement festichairs, stakes, etc.  There's also places to buy balloons, places to go to the bathroom, etc.

It's the important things you know...

I forgot it until it was mentioned...
There's also a brand new Target in Montrose on the south end of town. Cheers

There is also a new Sports Authority on the south side of Montrose-same turnoff as for Target.

Wow, everytime I come through Montrose it seems to be booming. 13 years ago there wasn't much to stop and look at. Oh which reminds me, there used to be this great little shop outside Montrose called "that little shop"??? The guy has great little crystals, incense, it's a cool place to look around. Tom is that the correct name, just So of Montrose on the left hand side?
